How long after the 210/211 is released is HP probably going to take before they release the accessories, especially the 4400 battery?
I plan to pre-order the 210/211 as soon is that's possible and would purchase the larger battery as soon as I can. I'm certain that the 4400 has to be larger than the standard 2200 and will therefore require a larger than standard case.
For most of my Palms I've bought metal cases so would like to find something similar for "my" 210/211 w/4400 as soon as possible.
I called HP in the States and they won't ship to Canada and HP Canada weren't even sure they would carry the 210/211.
I haven't found any Canadian retailers, brick or on-line, that list it as a soon-to-be-released product.

The HP Canada website said that estimated Canadian availability was October. At least, that was when they had a little page up devoted to the new Ipaqs. I can no longer find that page.

It would make sense that hp is holding off on the release until Microsoft officially releases support for Office 2007, since this ipaq is meant for enterprises/businesses.

You'd have to ask them, but I wouldn't expect it to be too long. Unless they're having supply problems, which I can't imagine given the run up to the release, I would expect them to do it simultaneously.

I am wondering how much you can do with the ipaq 310 which doesn't come with the wifi support (what a stupid move hp!). It has duo core and 3d graphics support and nicer screen (although less color) than this 210 so I am wondering if you can install your own programs like other gps software (considering uninstall the shipped gps software - tomtom is better I think), the opera brower, chm/pdf viewer etc - I can buy an sd wifi card for it...

Yeah... PDA things. Email, set/maintain/keep appointments, plan your projects, read books, install third party applications etc etc.
As I understand it, its a beefed up GPS unit and not a PDA. I really dontunderstand its inclusion in the handheld market other than it is handheld. But so is a mouse, a coffee cup, a TV remote, etc.

I talked to a couple of HP customer representatives and they all told me that you can install any programs that are supported by windows ce 5...

WOW - Over 19,500 hits; Dell, you listening?
:exc:I haven't looked at this thread for a couple of weeks. I can't believe over 10,500 hits for a stand alone PDA. I think this says a lot and very loudly that a lot of us would like to have a really good PDA to use along with a good phone and not a product that doesn't measure up in either path.
Am I nuts or is anyone else surprised at the interest in this new line of PDA's?

surprised at interest?
Yes, I am surprised. I thought I was the only PDA user who concentrated on off-loading as much travel work as possible onto my iPAQ. With a folding keyboard, I could do anything I wanted, comfortably and quickly, from a cramped airplane seat. With WiFi capability, I could manage e-mail easily from a hotel room or hot spot. Now, with Google Mail Mobile, it's even easier. Many a trip I left the laptop at home with no loss of functionality. Now, it looks like it'll be yet another leap forward.

I agree. It's a great travel companion. The functionality and larger screen (and resolution) allows me to use it instead of the notebook. Instant-on is great and the ability to read books, listen to music or watch video, etc makes it an extremely versatile device.
I have been using Pocket PCs for years. I considered UMPC but the limited battery life and size don't work for me. I have both Pocket PC and notebook, and use both for their unique strengths.

Oh my, this litle gizmo realy did land in the sweet spot :approve:
Remember not so long ago, when Dell finaly announced the death of the Axim line? Sounded like the end of the world in here And when the hx4700 was proclaimed, the end of the line, for iPAQ Flagships, it allso sounded like Doomsday
Now it seems like HP has been reading in, on the cry's and whining, on this forum, and has caved in, to reinvent the "top of line + best of all things" PPC, by merging the two topnoch machines, and added WM6
Ever since I bought my iPAQ h2210/2215 I've been on the lookout for the best replacement, and every time I thought. "Yes THIS is IT!", something came up, telling me, it was not the perfect sollution. For the hx4700 it was the touchpad, for the x50/51v it was the strange looks in landscape mode, and for the XDA Flame, it was the lack of WM6 upgrade.
Now this device comes up, and I'm all over it, for the time being, holding my breath, until the first tests have been run, and some user feedback tells me, why this iPAQ is not the final, and ultimate PPC
On the other hand, my trusty Oooold h2210 is getting a litle (ab)used, to look at, and it's about the age, where the battery will die, so maybe I will be forced to make up my mind, anny time soon And for that, the 210 is looking like the best of all evils
Demands:
WM6: Man have I been waiting for native support for HTML Mail
CF Slot: Must!! My camera uses CF cards, and I need the photo editing on the go + All the gizmos for CF I have.
Powerfull CPU: Photo editing.
WiFi: Can you live without it today?
VGA: Photo..........
Big battery: Who wants a wimpy 900mAh?
Big 3,5"+ screen: My eyes are getting older too :rolling:
Would like:
VGA Out: Powerpoint
GPRS: On the go Internet, where WiFi is not available.
Am I too demanding? I think not :headshake
They have showed us, it's possible to make it, so why don't they?
I want it all, and I want it NOW! :soap:
