The Hp UK site has changed from "coming soon" to "available direct".
I ordered one yesterday and the confirmation e-mail says expected date of despatch is 31st October 2007. £222 including VAT (about $450 I guess).
We will see!

Does anybody know the reason for their delay? I wonder if it's a design flaw, such as the battery would explode or something?

This is the best explanation I could find. No reasons, just some speculation.

Hi Chris:

Telephonically verified with HP this AM. There's a website problem that they are working to make say Feb 2008.

I have checked most of computer stores in Hong Kong
there's no clue about HP 212, but I found 512, and it's cheap ($250)
HTC products are everywhere, and found Mio, Acer, and Asus pdas
too bad neither has VGA screen, dual memory cards, WM6.X

I think "Payment open" means Hp have reserved the money on your credit card but won't actually take it until your order ships.
I'm in the same boat, I keep looking to see if the ETA shifts.
I'm going back to a non-converged device.

Well I'm mystified as to what's going on - The US Hp Business Store now has an estimated available to ship date of October 30th. The home store has lost it's "coming 2008" and now shows "available soon". Priced at $449.
The UK site hasn't changed and still shows available to order.

The business store shows "Coming in 2008!" and the home store shows "Coming soon" to me..

Here:
HP iPAQ 210 Enterprise Handheld specifications - HP Small & Medium Business products
And
Buy HP iPAQ 211 Enterprise Handheld(FB041AA#ABA) direct from the HP Home & Home Office Store

I had a reply from Hp (UK) this morning. They still expect to receive stock on 31/10/07 and to start delivery first week of November. I suppose the clue might be "expect". Will just have to wait and see - but not for much longer hopefully!
