How do you get the battery cover off?

Well, I just my got my shiny new HP 210 and am embarassed to admit that I've spent the past half hour trying to get the darn battery cover off :bang:. Does anyone have any tips? According to the Quick Start and the manual, you just simply slide it down. I've tried pulling it down from the top, then tugging at it from bottom. My next thought was to use pliers to pry it off, before I came to my senses. I can't believe this is so hard to get off! Thanks :).

Edit: Nevermind, I finally got it off after using a bit more force from the top.

Tricky isn't it! Mine just arrived too, but yes, you just have to use a bit more force on your precious new toy...

Yeah, why couldn't HP have used a battery lock like Dell did for their Axim? Knowing how hard it is to open the 210 with my twig arms, I'm certainly not going to be toting around a second battery like I did for my old X50v :|.

Well at least I don't have to stick little bits of tape in the mechanism now to stop the battery latch message...

I had the same problem. I tried for 10 mintes without succes and realised it was time to relax and take a rest because I get the feeling with all breakable items it is easier to break it in the first hour than it is in the next year.
I tried the second time 30 minutes later and realised the best technique for me was to press down and get my nail on top of the battery cover.
I get the feeling I will be not taking the battery out too often.

No, once broken you'll need a large piece of tape to stop the battery from falling out.

Thanks for the warning. I applied a little down pressure on the top of the lid and it slid right off! :approve:

There's an easy way.

Instead of pushing down on the top center of the cover, put your thumbs near the sides of the cover and pull down. It slides right off with zero effort. I think putting the pressure on the center pushes down on the little notches on the cover preventing it from coming off easily.

It's better to have a nail. Just insert the nail into aperture between the top back and the cover, use a little force and it's open.

Agree that I had a hard time doing this. Not a great design to be sure....

Battery cover came off pretty easy on mine. Hold device with both hands with screen pointing towards you and simply slide the cover downwards with you fingers, while using your thumbs for leverage. One of the easier covers to take off.
