Remap Start and OK hardware buttons?

Does anyone know how to remap the Start and OK hardware buttons? I believe these are buttons 2 and 3. I could remap all of the hardware buttons just fine in my old Axim X50v. However, the only options for the HP 210 are:
  • Button 1 (calendar)
  • Hold Button 1
  • Hold Button 3
  • Button 4 (mail)
  • Hold Button 4
  • Button 5 (record)

Is this common in WM6 devices? Also, by hold, they mean hold for 5 seconds. This feels like an eternity. I really can't wait that long to launch a program or press a left or right soft key . Thanks.

Even SKTools doesn't offer those buttons for reprogramming. There may be a registry change that you can make. Perhaps search the registry on "button".

Xda would be a good place to start that search.

Here is a link to a registry editor

Hope that a solution eventually comes from hp.

Hmm... Here's what I was able to do so far, using Post #12 from the XDA link mannc7 referenced above as a guide:

I was able to add a key that lets Button 3 show up under Start, Settings, Buttons. No icon shows up and while I can change the action associated to Button 3 (and it sticks in the Registry), it still uses the default "Close" action when I press it. I did also try doing a soft reset after changing it, no luck.

Maybe someone else will have better luck tinkering around.

Thanks to a user over on Brighthand, who pointed out AE Button Plus should take care of this on the 21x series. It seems to work just fine to let me map the OK button the way I want so far:approve:
