hi guys

i have just bought a ipaq 214 with mobile 6 classic i think running on it.

however, i just realised that you cant switch and add language support like you can on a pc.

i only bought the thing to use as a japanese dictionary, so without ability to display japanese, and to input kanji and kana with the stylus, its useless ....:(

is it possible to change it so i can do this ? can i change the OS to japanese ?

does anybody know a solution please ?

or should i try to return it ?

with HX24xx in the past, you can rename the image name to cheat the system (I did this way to change English to Trad Chinese)
but this is IMPOSSIBLE with recent HP models (no ROM dl)
too bad.....
I wanted to ask similar question...how to change 211 language to Trad Chinese, other than pay $40 to get Monster Chinese license

its ok now, i managed to get it working, 7 hours of reading web pages and trial and errors.

I just realized that when I got Asus 626.....
I have Monster Chinese 5.x license, install on it first, then upgrade to 6, I was not asked to input reg code again
this is a good news for me, now I just have to put PMingLiu in it, and do some registry on it
PHM doesn't work, but luckily Total Commander works with WM6C

Wow, don't shock me like that!
One of the main purposes why I ordered my ipaq 214 (still waiting! Hurry up, HP Germany!!) is for using it as a japanese dictionary!
Tried it on the Windows Mobile Device Emulator with WM6 ROM and it worked as good as on my old WM2003 Device (Asukal+Bagoj).
It's better than any wordtank, I think.

Well, good to see it works on the ipaq214...
