side by side comparison of 211 and 4705
Here's the same picture for comparison on the two devices. It took about 20 tries. Hard to take it in focus and not have glare. I'm no photographer, that's for sure.

It's high res. Feel free to download it. I suspect the site where I posted it will take it down.

The screen protectors were off both devices.
Both devices were turned up to maximum brightness.

My impression is the 4705 looks marginally better, but it's a minimal difference, and I am biased.

Will update on battery as soon as I can.

Hope this helps.

I like 211 better abit, but barely noticeable
I wouldn't disassemble my 211 to find out whether the LCD is same as HX4700
(it may be a forbidden question, but I'd like to ask)
which WM version you use on HX4700?
if it's WM6, how is the a2dp performance, as well as SD-HC support?

Mingkee, I use WM 2003 SE for my 4700. I still find it best, but remember that I mostly use my IPAQ as a document reader, video viewer, and PDA. I rarely use the Wifi and never use the email.

I tried WM 2005 and it was so horrible, and so much hassle, that I have given up. My 4700 does exactly everything I need, and I have never heard or seen anything to suggest that I need the more recent versions of WM.

I like new hardware, but I hate new software (because so often it fails to deliver on the promise of the hardware). I still use Windows 2000 on my main PC, and think it is much more stable than XP and infinitely better than Vista (which is an unmitigated disaster).

Thanks for the comparison pictures. I think the 211 looks slightly better.

Somehow, in real life, the 4700 seems sharper.

Looking at the photo myself, I don't really get that sense. I agree that the colours seem slightly richer in the 211 in the photo. Don't forget you are comparing an over 3 year old screen with a brand new screen.

Maybe the black edge on the 211 creates better contrast with the picture and thus it makes it look a bit sharper on the 211

Could you re-make the pics in (almost) absolute darkness? Like in my similar articles http://www.winmobiletech.com/SCREENQUALITY/ and http://www.winmobiletech.com/VSHX4700/ ?

(Note that the latter article has some shots with flash. do NOT use flash.)
