Excessive headphone static?

Hey guys,

Just bought my 212 yesterday and picked up a new set of earphones (Creative Ep-630) today. Playing MP3s on WM, there seems to be excessive static.

Anyone have the same issue?

Is it WM or is the 210? The Hx4700 I had before didn't have this issue with the same earphones (lost my previous set).

The static is bad on other headphones too.

In your audio player, is your volume at 100%? Try bumping that down and then increasing the system volume to compensate.

the volume is NOT controllable when a2dp is active (both WMP and pocket player)
it appears the headphones hiss problem is common on WM device

System volume is not controllable when a2dp is active, but application volume and of course the volume on the headphones are.

What on earth is A2DP ???

Already tried bumping up system volume and lowering WM volume, increases or decreases in WM volume or system volume do not affect the amount of hiss at all.

A2DP is the protocol for wireless audio over Bluetooth. (Sorry we got a bit off topic on this). Since your Creative EP-630's have wires, I wouldn't worry about this. Lowering either the application or system volume SHOULD decrease the hiss; of course, your music will be at a lower volume as well. At least that's the case with my HP 210. If you're still hearing a loud hiss when your music is almost inaudible or stopped, then that sounds like a hardware problem :|. You could also try switching headphones, music player, and maybe even a hard reset as a last resort. Good luck :).

It could be an impedance mismatch. My BT headset and my hard wired headset work just fine -no hiss

Try a different make of headset if possible.

Tried playing things in TCMP player, Mort Player, Pocket Music Player and WinVibe and they all have exactly the same sound issues.

I am tempted to send my 210 back to get this fixed, its tolerable when viewing videos but when listening to music... As soon as ANY song finishes the static would go down a lot (but still noticable) and as soon as the next file starts to play, I'd get a lot of hiss again. Song after song... it gets really annoying.

:(

Good thing these have a one year warranty, but it's damn inconvoninent having to send it in for a fix ALREADY.

Not happy with HP.

Before you send your 210 back, have you tried a hard reset? Yeah, if you're still getting audible static on all audio after that, I would definitely send it back.

I sent back my Creative EP-630 headphones and got a new set.

Problem still persists. Seems a little less worse than before but its probably a placebo effect of me wanting it to sound good :(

Still intolerable.

How do I hard reset?
