24 Pin arrel Connector ???

Hello:

Has anyone here run across a source for the multiple pin plug, same as the one that gets plugged into the sync cable as it comes in the box with the 210? I need just the plug, 24-pin barrel connector. I can find references to the connector but no part number. Seems that this is a very easy part to misplace...I know and had 4 of them for the 2975 and before. It almost seems that HP feels they don't have to worry about making it available as long as they offer the USB. Help please..

I've ordered one of the plugs, tho I'll have to say the picture they have at ipaqparts doesn't look like the one I got with the 210, I located traces of the part at HP but it's not being carried. Is that customary for HP? I thought not but.... anyway I'd refer you to What's the usage of that 24 pin connector of iPaq 210? where the gent is describing the pinouts of the 24 pin connector. Does this still seem the same?

Take Care

They're not the same. All previous iPAQ's have the same. The 21x has a totally different one. It's much bigger. As a result no cradle

All the more reason that HP should be able to provide the part and telcall to them should result in enough product knowledge to do better than have us chasing down sources of discontinued parts. Time for the "sqweaky wheels" to roll! Right now it sounds quite like a second string operation.

billpool--I've been looking for this plug too. I have five, six for my x51v, and a few for each of my past PDAs. Let me know whether you have any success.

don't waste your money
I have several ipaq plugs, since H1945, it worked with
RX3115
RX3715
HX2415
HX2495
but not with ipaq 211
luckily, the miniUSB can do async and charge (I use blackberry 8800 AC adaptor, it works 100%)

about async 4.5 problem, try to install .net framework and service packs (esp you want to do async over bt)
I have no problem at all with async 4.5 (Trad Chinese version)

The aforentioned part arrived today and were it not for 2 other items I ordered it was not the part it was claimed to be....

We need a proprietary 24-pin connector. The connector on the iPAQ 210 is not the same as that on older iPAQs. This info partially extracted from a previous review...

In an attempt to answer this question and more, I turned to what can be considered the only really definitive source: HP's product manager for the iPAQ 210. The communication, relayed through HP's PR firm, was short and only mildly informative. The company was unwilling to part with much in the way of specifications on the connector; no confirmation or denial of serial port capabilities, etcetera. They also noted that since HP is still in the process of developing a cradle for the device, any feature-set for such a cradle hadn't yet been finalized.

Some insight may be found in the documentation on the iPAQ, though. In a file listing tips for the HP "Smart Connector," it's described as being compatible with a number of "docks," including an "Entertainment Dock," "Desk Phone Dock," "Barcode Scanning Dock," and "RFID Tag Reader/Programmer Dock." If HP actually comes out with all the things it's described there, the iPAQ 210 is going to make one hell of an enterprise-level device.

I've searched all over HP and can not locate the file he speaks of. Perhaps someone here has seen it?

Thanks for listening.

bill
