Screen Saver Fit

I've ordered a Boxwave ClearTouch Crystal for my 211, but some folks have received Boxwave hx4700 screen savers sold as 210 ones. These fit poorly, leaving gaps around the edges.

I'm interested in the fit that folks are getting from other brands of screen savers. I know that PDAir and HP in particular are selling protectors. If others fit tightly around the edges and are high quality, I'll probably send my "mislabeled" Boxwave back for a refund.

I bought some screenguardz from NLU Products L.L.C. and they fit correctly. I don't like them as well as the boxwave screensavers I use on my Pocket Loox 720, but until boxwave gets it right, they will have to work.

My pda vendor sold me a screenprotector for the 210, which was actually an exact fit for the hx4700. That didn't fit at all imo. There was a margin of about 3mm both in length and width.
That one was returned of course.

This week I got the right sized protector by Brando. This one fits exactly, so you have to make sure you put it on very straight, otherwise it will cause friction on the original surface.
My first attempt wasn't so good, and the screen wouldn't even see my input anymore .
Fortunately I was able to correct it.

How did the Brando affect the screen sensitivity for writing and tapping? How clear is it?

It's the Brando Ultra Clear screenprotector, and that it is .
I didn't notice any decline in clarity of the screen.

About the responsiveness of the screen, I'm not 100% sure. The screen is quite unresponsive out of the box if you ask me. I don't think the protector does anything to make it worse. I kind of dislike the screen of the 210 series. It's very beautiful for sure, but the sensitivity is not so good. Maybe it needs to run a couple of miles before its works well.

Anyways, back to the Brando: I have been using this particular screenprotector (same brand & type) on my last pda and haven't had a problem with it.

They are quite durable and will last for years. I wore out just one in four years, and that was because I used the Tengo Soft Keyboard a lot, I don't use Tengo anymore, and expect this one to last like forever.

I use standard 4" (10.1cm) screen sticker
looks OK, no wide gap as other member mentioned (less than 0.5mm)
I use dummy pen or fingernail to tap (I need to use more effort on stylus)

I got the Brando in the mail yesterday. I do feel that it reduces the screen clarity a bit but tolerable and does degrade the screen responce somewhat. I noticed it wasn't smooth when you drag the stylus accross the screen, a test was moving card in a solitaire game.
I'm sure how long I'm going to keep it on before I'm frustrated.

Just my $.02

I tried to do some handwriting using calligrapher even before I put on a screenprotector.
The 'naked' screen didn't feel smooth and it lost contact with the stylus in some spots, especially in the middle of the screen.

If you do get frustrated, please do try the same tests on your screen before you actually toss the protector, you should be able to fit it on again. Please let us know what you find.

I gave that a try and found that you are 100% right about the naked screen. However it seems with the protector on the problem is worse.
I feel like I'm going to dig the stylus right through the screen. I want to keep a protector on because I really made a mess of my x51v screen.

I never had problems with CalliGrapher on the naked screen, but it is somewhat insensitive to taps. With the ill-fitting Boxwave 4700 protector on it now, it's about the same. I haven't noticed any sensitivity changes. I am more confident now to tap harder, though. ;-)

From my point of view, that airbubbled somewhat opacized transparent surface you're presented with, out of the box, IS the screen protector, feels like the real screen is one mm under it, and they overimposed that thick ill-stickying layer for bullet-proof purposes. Still have to get it properly handy, especially the keyboard for PIN at the bootup gives me a furious reaction since if I try and be as fast as I was on hx2400 it constantly misses one, two or three strokes. And my pin is quite something, so everytime I need to cancel and restart especially during a phonecall drives me nuts.
Anyway, back to the topic, even if I always kept a protector on my hx2400 during the 2.5 years I used it, I think I will not use one on this 214. Once, out of sheer irritation for how tomtom was (mis)behaving on wm6, I even angrily hit the naked screen with the stylus point, and well it felt quite "rocky" solid :D

To update everyone, Boxwave is designing a new HP 200-series screen protector that should be ready to ship in 3 weeks or so. Everyone who ordered a 200-series but received a hx 4700 one will get a new 200-series protector to replace it with no action required from the customer. Boxwave made good on the issue--a mark of a class outfit.

Other than the fit, the Boxwave has been working fine on my 211.
