I used the one that came with the 210 from HP. It has a barrel socket on one end, the connector for the 210 on the other. The HP end looks like the sync cable end--I'm told it has 24 pins.
Using that connector you don't get the 200 mA limit that is imposed by the mini-USB socket.
Being new to the iPAQ line, is the bottom connector on the HP 21x series the same as the other HP devices? In other words, will this work:
Tanker Bob, I didn't say that one would work, in fact I asked if anyone knew if it would. I used the one that came from HP. But for $8.99, I may order one just in case...
I use an Arkon mount that is listed as "universal," the CM799 from here:
It came with a short usb-miniUSB cable, but it given that it is still limited to 200 mA, it flickered, so I have a separate power cable for the 210 now. The speaker is, however, much better! For that alone, I'd buy it again. It also has an output for powering other devices, like the GPS receiver, with smaller current ratings. It holds the unit firmly in landscape orientation and seems to be really solid. The only thing I don't like about it is that the volume dial is on one side and the release button is on the opposite side, so no matter which landscape orientation I use something I want is under the mount, close to the dashboard. For now, I've got it set for the volume to be up, button down.

It's reported to be compatible with hx2215, which I'm pretty sure is the same as hx2200, which has the same connector of hx2400, which was my previous pocketpc, so no, it's not compatible. I couldn't fit one's connector in the other's slot. Even if that's an utmost stupid choice, the difference may be maybe 0.5mm in the length of the contact line. I missed on the possibility of using a retractable usb-to-slot cableI bought for 2400.
Even though the discussion has moved in all sorts of directions (which I like since I, too, will be new to the IPAQ line) - am I to understand that the sync-ing with the computer is done solely via usb-mini-usb?

This adapter will not work with your IPAQ 210. The older IPAQs do not use a mini-USB port, so none of the syncing & charging options that worked for the older line of IPAQs (pre-WM6.0) will work with the IPAQ 110 or the IPAQ 210.

That doesn't make sense to me.
The sync cable for the IPAQ 210 & IPAQ 110 is a mini-USB cable - you plug the mini-USB tip into the IPAQ and the USB tip into a USB port on your computer.

There are three ways to sync. One is wireless (BT), two are cabled. The first cable option is to use the USB-24pin cable that comes with the 21x. That cable has a socket for the external power supply on the 24-pin connector. Using that cable, with an external power supply, will charge the unit quickly.
The other option is to use a USB-miniUSB cable (not provided by HP). That style cable will charge and sync at the same time, but the charging speed is throttled down by the 21x to preserve the USB port on the PC.
You also get in the box with the 21x a power-only adapter for the 24 pin socket. It has no cable, just a socket for power on one end and a plug to fit to the bottom of the 21x on the other. It's shaped like a little fan, similar to the one in the picture in the link.
I didn't find the link to which you referred.
Am I to guess that the 24 pin connector is similar in concept (though not in stats) to the one we got for the x50v in which on one side is the 24 pin adapter and on the opposite side a port for ??
Can this be used for charging?
I have ordered the HP 210 from amazon and the piel frama from cases.com and will get them in the middle of April (don't ask - it's a logistics problem on my side - not the companies from which I ordered) so I am very very anxious to see everything!!! :)

Here is the adapter link, but this particular adapter will NOT connect to the 21x series, apparently.
It is similar in function to the fan adapter that came with the X50 and X51 series that looked like the one in the link picture--PDA connector on one end, power socket (barrel) on the other.
