Question Storage Cards & Rounded PDA Top

I received my new iPAQ 211 yesterday (a replacement for my stupid mistake - another long and pitiful story). After I put in my storage card, I notice that the SD card sticks out a little on the left-hand (record button) side. It seems to be because the top is both concave (along the y-axis as the device is sitting on the desk with the screen up) and convex (along the x-axis), with the device being microns taller in the center of the top side than at either edge.

Two questions come to mind:
  1. Is it just me/my iPAQ, or is it true for everyone?
  2. Should I be concerned about the corner of the SD card catching on something? It doesn't stick out more than a millimeter; would that be enough to catch when taking it out of a horizontal case?

FrinkTL:

I got mine 2 days ago, and I didn't even notice until I read your post that mine did that as well.

It is very slight for me (like maybe 3mm at most).

I wouldn't think this should be an issue, but one never knows. At least you can take comfort (if you want to call it that) that you are not alone :).

Let me know if you hear otherwise;

A (new 210 owning) Bug :approve:

Yes, it does extend slightly, but I've never had it catch on anything. I have a PDair leather case that is flip-top, so I don't have the chance for it to catch being put in or taken out.

0.5mm on the record button side... not noticeable anyway, looked only because you asked :)

Big Smile

Perhaps it's to compensate for the fact that the SD card is 5mm below the surface of an Ipaq 110. Practically requires a hairpin to remove.

Same on mine - not just SD, but CF card also.
