HP's $30 Leather Belt Case

I just received my HP leather belt case for my 211. Thought that I'd share pictures for those considering what case to buy (since HP's own side doesn't really go into too much detail on the case).

Some notes:
  1. The case stores the device horizontally and it seems to "jam" on my leg less than a vertical mount usually does (even when it's mounted on a swivel
  2. The case is wrapped in very nice leather
  3. The close mechanism is magnetic
  4. The case completely covers the front and back of the unit and has 4 straps (one on each side and 2 on the bottom) to keep the device in place
  5. The phone jack port is easily accessible while the device is in the case
  6. The inside of the case is velvet-like material - quite soft
  7. It took about 2 weeks from the time I ordered it before it arrived at my door (from Indianapolis, IN)

Is that a belt loop or just a clip (looks like a clip)? How secure is it? I used to have a leather pda case that had just a clip, and I almost lost the darned thing when it slipped off when I sat down (and didn't realize it). I much prefer the belt loop cases now.

it's spring clip, very cheap build
however, it doesn't fall off, never happened (have similar one for phones)
I'd prefer PDair over this one because you can access the screen, buttons, memory card without removing the unit

Uh...I don't think you're talking about the belt case I'm using (part #459091-001. It's made of fine leather and the belt clip, while it does use a spring clip, it doesn't seem at all cheap or of inferior quality and it is very secure. If anything, it's sometimes difficult to remove from my belt. But it has never, ever even given me the slightest indication that it would ever break or fall off unexpectedly. That's to it's credit, because I can't tell you how many of those plastic belt clips for metal cases I've broken over the years (3-5 in as many years, each time resulting in a heart-wrenching crash onto the floor, ground or pavement. I'm not at all displeased with the quality for the price I paid, and am happy with my purchase.

By holding the device horizontally instead of vertically, it avoids the kind of stress that a vertical mount will exert on the clip when, say, it slides around to the front and I lift my leg to climb over something or swat down to pick something up, causing the whole assembly to bind, always pinch my stomach, and sometimes break the plastic belt clip. Also, since it mounts horizontally, I find it never gets into a situation when I would have wanted it to swivel on a post. I used to be an avid fan of the vertical cases, but replacing all those clips has broken me of the habit.

Oh, and I seem to be able to hear the alarms sounding with it inside the case without too many exceptions. Of course, I'd still suggest testing the sound volume of the sound bit you'll use for reminders with it in the case to make sure it's loud enough (and re-mix it with Windows Recorder if it's not).

That's my 4 pennies (that's 2 cents after 5 years of inflation).:)
