May I suggest Opera 8.65 it has the best download manager of any mobile browser I've ever used. There's a 30 day trial.

How can that be possible? I was used to netfront for those rare times I browsed with my old PDA because WM2003's PIE sucked... but WM6 PIE really works good, and consider I am a firefox addict on the PC. Obviously downloads work perfectly good as well... I regularly get applications CABs off the net from the 214. What problems are you experiencing exactly?

Sometimes the links don't do anything when I push on 'em with the stylus, sometimes I see the .cab as if a text file in the browser (a situation I would normaly do "back" "rightclick" and "save as", witch I can't do)

Doesn't even a tap&hold menu solve the issue? And if not, would you mind posting the link to the pages/files?

Read my Web Browsing Bible, it also elaborates on the solution. See the Applications forum, it's a Sticky there.

...stupid tap&hold menu of PIE. I never really use it, so I sillily (is that even an english word?) supposed it would hold the same functions of the context menu of IE (which I don't use as I am a firefox addict).
Weirdly enough, I get the same exact problem with netfront33, it spontaneously opens it as a text file, so I would guess it's a problem of how the website defines the link. Anywhow, from sindei netfront33 I was able to opena contextual menu which allowed to to save the "link target" in a specified path, and after the CAB was completed (no progress bar tho) I could verify it starts the install process.
This is the link to Menneisyys's gude tho: guide

I couldn't find it among the stickies inside the apps forum, weird, but I got to it via a link from inside the web browsers roundup.
