Windows Mobile 6.1 on HP iPaq 210

I don't understand this announcement about HP not providing an update to Windows Mobile 6.1 at all.

Reviews have said that the 210 HAS Mobile 6.1.

Microsoft offers a free upgrade to 6.1. When I downloaded 6.1 and tried to install it, I got a message saying that my 210 already had a NEWER version installed.

Mobile 6.1 is described by MS as having compatibility with the Office 2007 file formats, and my 210 offers to save in those formats right out of the box.

I agree that the 210 SAYS it has Mobile 6, not 6.1, but maybe it LIES?

I spent a lot of time getting funding for up to 100 iPAQ 214s, all loaded with SkyScape and other applications. Unfortunately, there are too many bugs, especially an e-mail bug which means messages can't be downloaded from our work system reliably. I think it's because of the 'FlexMail' bug; other PPCs connect just fine. It's a pretty big problem; the equivalent of a new TV not receiving BBC channels.
This is really poor for an 'enterprise' device. I'm not interested in upgrades but I hope HP provide patches. If HP decide not to fix the bugs either no-one will buy the 200 series in large numbers and HP will drop it, or there will be a lot of very angry business users.
I'm not going to try funding a different device so these sales have been lost. If other volume buyers feel the same, it could mean the end of the platform. This might sound pessimistic but businesses have long memories.

I had several HP ipaqs
they tend to do like that in many ways
no WM2003SE for H2200, 41xx, 43xx
no WM5 for RX3715 for vague reason (but WM5 is available for HX series for a price)
no WM6 for WM5 version of HX2xxx
the reason why is to force you to buy the next model!
