Icon13 HP IPAQ 214 discontinued?

Hi
The Ipaq 210 is listed as discontinued on a Swedish reseller site and when asked they claim that HP says the device is no longer for sale. The reseller in question is one of the largest (and best) in Sweden and they usually knows what they are doing.

sigh, I really wanted one of those, both for work and for pleasure, was just waiting for the bonus money to arrive so that I could convince my wife i have earned it...

Hopefully just a glitch in communication between Dustin (the reseller) and HP, but otherwise, remember where you heard it first!

If that's really true, doesn't surprise me that much. Class action anyone? ;)
Too bad I'm from Italy, and even if class actions would be officially admitted here, the guys in the rooms of the buttons are trying to do everything in order to put obstacles to it.

Clove Technology in the UK has them and they ship anywhere. I'm in the US and I have bought from them. Fast shipping and very competitive prices. It was cheaper to buy my Brodit PDA holder from them and have it shipped here than it was to buy in this country.

Please forgive me if I'm being stupid.. but I can't see what possible grounds anyone could have for a class action if a company discontinues sales of a product line.

Can I start a class action because I can no longer buy a Ferrari Dino from Ferrari?

My thoughts exactly! Class Action lawsuit? For what reason?

Nonetheless, I see nothing on HP's website that indicates this pocket pc has been discontinued.

I have not seen anything bad on HP's webpage either so it is probably just a misunderstanding in communication between Dustin and HP in Sweden.

just wanted to see if there was the same in other places.
there are still other places to buy it so I am not too alarmed.

Discontinued sale would probably mean discontinued production and consequently proper support. But we're in the hypothesis domain, since the discontinuation appears to be a "non-news". Anyhow, the winking smiley was denoting an ironic tone of the message :p
(the tongue smiley here denotes a pullingyourleg tone :p :p)

While the consideration about italian class action was sadly true and partially rant-ish even if not necessarily contextual to iPAQs.

psionandy's reverse rethoric didn't flatter me though :)

Perhaps because of the new Enterprise class Windows Mobile 6.1 device HP will be shortly offering with CF and SDHC slots as well as a wide range of docking stations, shortly. It will be in the stores by Christmas for your shopping pleasure. :)

Yeap, that might be the misunderstanding in communication. HP did put out an official statement recently they were definitely not going to support the WM 6.1 ROM upgrade for their NEW devices which almost makes it sound like a kind of ´discontinuation ´of the product, eh ? Very un-costumer-friendly decision, anyway.

When HP discontinue a product line where they have support obligations they dont walk away from those obligations. Instead they have stockpiles for warrenty replacements/spare parts and may offer replacements of updated products instead. If you aren't under warranty then of course the point is moot regardless

Likewise Dell are still providing warranty support for Axims that are under warranty.

The reason I can't buy a Dino however has got nothing to do with them not being in production ;)
