Bluetooth speaker?

As you all know the speakers in these units are very poor, especially if you want to use them for sat nav. So I thought I'd test out a theory I had, and that was to pair my pda with my bluetooth car kit. The results were good, not only did the sound come out of the car speakers but I also was able to connect to my bluetooth gps at the same time. So that's sound sorted, well almost. I was wondering if anyone knows if there's a dedicated BT Speaker (for the car)?

In a couple of days, if no better solution can be found, I'm going to buy another BT Handsfree kit just for my PDA, but would rather a proper solution than this one, as although there's sound it's got static and hope there's a high quality sound solution.

Your help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Some of these panel bluetooth speakers look like they might work for you. They're not really designerd for cars though.

The speaker must have a car charger, hence the reason I've gone down the car kit option.

The one I'm currently toying with buying is this one Southwing SF605 Bluetooth Car Kit

With rechargable battery and 10hr+ talk time, that should allow me plenty of power and do even the longest journey with no problem.

This option with my bluetooth gps allows me just to get in the car, dock my device and all connections are automatic, no messing with wires etc.

I guess once I've bought this someone will manufacture a car cradle with gps and wireless sound. Be just my luck.

Quick update:

Went with the 'Sothwing' car kit, and yes I'm pleased. Once setup I can turn the speaker on or off my tapping the top of the device.

With it clipped to the sun visor it's close enough for me to hear with radio and road noise.

A nice cheap option:approve:

Now I can hear all my sat nav commands.

Maybe someone can help me: my Toyota Corolla car has a BT connection. I tried to let recognize the iPaq 214 to the car, but... nothing to do.
Does anyone have any idea on how it could be possible to link it?

Baldeagle, how did you get to listen to the iPaq on speakers car?

I spent a while looking for the 'Sothwing' kit ;)
I found more than one product by Southwing. Which did you choose? Will it (or any similar device) connect to more than one device at a time?
It looks like a solution that I could use though I'm not really keen on carrying yet another device. Car crime in the UK is now a respectable occupation and it's best not to leave accessories in unattended vehicles.

to make bt speakerphone work, you MUST enable HSP/HFP support in bluetooth settings
else you can use bt stereo (a2dp) speakers

I have a parrot handsfree car kit for my phone, that is wired to use my cars speakers when activated, I just paired the device with my pda. Problem is it mutes the cars audio system (music) and can't recieve phone calls. That's why I bought a seperate bluetooth speaker.

Don't remember having to enable my audio gateway on my pda, as I think it was on by default (might be wrong though), from the new connection menu just use the Hands-free/Headset setup option to find the bluetooth speaker.

Check my 3rd post here for the link to the product I used, got it from ebay in the end.

It clips onto the sunvisor, so easy the remove and store out of site.

Been using mine with the window down and music on and I can still hear the prompts from the speaker. (speedcam warning from igo8 is a little to loud, but there's a tweak for that).
