Icon13 CF Card interface slower than SD Card interface.

I did some non-scientific testing of the CF Card read/write speeds in comparison to built-in storage and SD Card. Using sktools benchmark utility. Here's what I found:
Sandisk Extreme III 2GB

Main storage (write);1492.35;KB/sec
Main storage (read);3783.25;KB/sec
CF Card (write); 616.37;KB/sec
CF Card (read); 997.08;KB/sec
SD Card (write);1018.06;KB/sec
SD Card (read);1595.84;KB/sec

Sandisk Ultra II 2GB

Main storage (write);1355.39;KB/sec
Main storage (read);3654.97;KB/sec
CF Card (write); 570.84;KB/sec
CF Card (read); 987.94;KB/sec
SD Card (write);1065.56;KB/sec
SD Card (read);1590.06;KB/sec

Transend 8GB 133X

Main storage (write);1444.97;KB/sec
Main storage (read);3601.41;KB/sec
CF Card (write); 437.42;KB/sec
CF Card (read);1031.56;KB/sec
SD Card (write); 987.15;KB/sec
SD Card (read);1649.84;KB/sec

PNY Optima PRO UDMA 4GB 266X

Main storage (write);1724.39;KB/sec
Main storage (read);3635.50;KB/sec
CF Card (write); 730.82;KB/sec
CF Card (read);1030.53;KB/sec
SD Card (write);1061.87;KB/sec
SD Card (read);1666.40;KB/sec

As you can see the SD Card interface was faster regardless of which type of CF Card I used.

Yes I agree that the CF slot is ridiculously slow. There has been no effort to tune the CF driver. But I am not following what you are posting.

So is this one card, or two? A CF card, or a CF and an SD card? Your numbers seem to be all over the place. I would think that reading to main storage and writing to it should be consistent. Clearly a class 6 SDHC card will not get class 6 speeds or anything like it in the 210. To me that says there are problems with the memory card drivers for the 210. None of the drivers seem to have been optimized in any way.

I tested the main storage, a class 4 SDHC Card (Sandisk Ultra II 4GB + USB) and the CF Card. There are two results; for each the write speed is first. The read speed is second.

And yes the numbers seem to be all over the place. The IPAQ 211 needs new drivers.

I did same test and get different results

Transcend 8GB SDHC Class 6

Main storage (write);1524.57;KB/sec
Main storage (read);3500.85;KB/sec
SD Card (write);675.68;KB/sec
SD Card (read);7917.53;KB/sec

2 months ago when I bought this card results were like this:
SD Card (write);785,68;KB/sec
SD Card (read);9510,84;KB/sec

So SK-Tools test is very inaccurate

I've had better results with Pocket Mechanic Professional by always doing a soft reset before each benchmark and running them on mostly empty cards. I believe the two hundred series has some significant driver issues, and the actual level that the processor is running at seems to be one.

Is there another tool that you would recommend I use to benchmark memory cards. Pocketmechanics tool is confusing to me (guess i'm not smart enough).
