Question Performing a hard-reset on Ipaq 211.

The manual says to hold down application buttons 2 & 3 along with the voice recorder at the same time then tap the reset button once.

I managed to do this but it's very hard even harder than using the bootloader on my old x51v.

Sktools has a hard reset feature can I use this instead? Oh! And do Ipaq's have a bootloader?

I have SKTools installed but I can see only a soft reset option, not hard reset. How did you get it?

Look at this thread: New User - New Questions , some methods of hard resed were discussed.

That's because it's not available by default. Open sktools tap on tools>settings> on the main settings tab scroll down until you see allow hard-reset select it then go to the drop down menu that appears and select yes. Now click tools and ok.

The hard-reset feature is now available under tools>reset>hard-reset..

And I am happy to report that it does work.

WARNING: Remove all memory cards or they will receive a low-level format (Only your desktop will be able to see them).

One more thing the hard reset looks like a soft-reset (no clean boot message). But the device will stop at the windows mobile splash screen then I had to perform a soft-reset that completed the process.

Handymenu also has a hard-reset option available.

Thanks for the info on using SKtools for the hard reset.
Just a couple of notes--you must have SKtools installed on your device, not on the storage card, for this to work. And when I did this, it did not hang up on the WM splash screen.
Thanks again.
