Tough to get cases that cover any extended batteries just yet.
[/QUOTE]
The PDAir flip case does work with the 4400mha extended battery, even though it is not designed as such.

Case for 4400 battery
Today I get letter from eshop.hu, seller of Mugen batteries.
It write, that with 2 weeks start selling leather cases (black), specially designed for extended 4400 battery.

I have purchased two extended batteries, one is a 4400 mAh Mugen that I bought from Lion Battery on eBay for a total of $81.60, and the other is a 3650 mAh that I bought for $34.00 on eBay from Hong Kong. I am getting exactly the same amount of time on both - 6 hours. I use my HP210 to collect data all day and run ArcPad with a bluetooth link to a GPS, so something is running all of the time except for about 15 minutes while I eat lunch. I start at about 7:30 AM and both batteries go dead at about 2:00 PM.
I have let the Mugen go through 5 charge cycles and the results are the same. Unless I am missing something, the Mugen is absolutely not worth the extra money. I expected to get 7-8 hours and that was why I paid the premium so I wouldn't have to change batteries in the field.
The battery indicator on the today screen of the 211 indicates 6 hours when the Mugen 4400 is fully charged, and it seems to be very accurate.
Does this mean I have a defective battery?
Any news on the case to fit the extended batteries?
Thanks.

The much cheaper 3650 battery is only about 10-15 minutes different from the much more expensive Mugen now that I have done additional testing including the installing of the Service Pack that is supposed to improve extended battery compatibility of the HP211. I tried to get a response from the Lion/Mugen dealer, but nothing yet.

It´s even worse here. I´m getting exactly the same amount of time with the 3650 battery from HK as with the original 2200 HP battery. Besides the incredible weight increase and the almost unusable cover.Even after tweaking the registry-renaming the battdrv.dll as described by David Hettel. I´m really pissed off:(
A total waste of money although it was cheap. Gonna get the 2400 Mugen battery when it´s in stock-sounds like the best solution.
Cheers

I should have posted here earlier, I covered this on a different thread so here it is. You should get it all to work great with this two step process. It was necessary for both the 3650 and the Mugen 4400. My guess is that you will be happy with the 3650 once this process is done. Let us know.
I too got the 3650 battery with the instant fall off back. It suckes, but a little piece of scotch tape on the seam of the back works great.
Well I can confirm that I went from 6 hours to 10+ hours of time on the 211 with the 4400 mAh battery from Mugen. I had a full day of work (8 hours) and the battery still shows 2 hours left.
To recap what I did thanks to advice received here. I installed the new Sp36920 from HP that is supposed to allow the use of extended batteries. It didn't work until I deleted (renamed) the file BATTDRVR.dll then did a soft reset. This regenerated the old version of the .dll . So I got the changes to the registry of the sp but used the old driver. Stupid, but it works.
Now when I use the 211 without running bluetooth all day I get 12+ hours.

Thanks, phmurhy. I´ve already tried this-without any noticable change. The thing is-I have one of those devices with the HP update already preinstalled, so when I first got it and switched it on, andan update started. Maybe itś a different one and things don´t work out the way you described-must give it another try!

bump--batteries and cases in 2009
Has anyone found extended cases for HP 211s that use the fat extended batteries? I need one that stays put--not a pouch or holster from which you have to take the PDA out and put it in and take it out...

Check the Otterbox defender series. It is semi-waterproof if you want, or you can just remove the protective membrane. Great system, but may be too durable for your needs. Price is nice too.
