Icon13 How to fix the updates...

There **appears** to be some registry errors with the registry path settings at HKLM\software\apps\HP CF data Improvement and HP iPAQ Vendor you have to be change them to \Windows if you have installed them in the IPAQ's memory. Also you'll need to change the path at HKLM\Security\AppInstall\HP CF Data Improvement and HP iPAQ Vendor for an InstallDir. Hp appears to have referenced a directory in the registry that doesn't exist.

Kind of sad when one can get better tested software at XDA Developers than from HP...

It's a common rule of thumb to always install OS updates to the device, not storage (and the Ipaq file store counts as storage in this case). HP *should* have QA'd this anyway, though.

What are you talking about??? These updates are installed to the /windows folder no matter what is selected I believe.

The Problem that I see is the registry appears to be configured wrong and points to Program Files/Hewett Packard/and the name of the driver. The actual files are in /windows no matter where one elects to point the installer.

Nice

Nice thing to get a speed upgrade for the CF slot, but how about a "Recognise the CF slot" driver?

My 214 is constantly forgetting what a CF card is

Why not fixing the CF drain as well then, but apparently they are not ready to acknowledge the problem that hundreds of users are having (and living with, like myself) :p

Yes, but the registry entries are being set based on the installed location. Had you selected Device instead of Ipaq File Store as the install location the registry entries would have been correct.

I selected Device, NOT iPAQ File Store, and no the registry values are not correct. Your Assumption is wrong.

David is correct. I also selected device, and the entries still point to a non-existent directory.

I really haven't seen much of any change in CF performance. Battery loss is still there, but I have never had the extreme loss reported by many, and I use the Transcend 32G card.

Icon13 Warning....

The HP CompactFlash (CF) Data Improvement program even tho it is listed in remove programs, will not actually un-install and leave your CF slot in a working state!

Sorry, I misunderstood your original post. You said:

I interpreted that to mean "iPaq File Store" not "Device".
