It might be worth waiting for the Ipaq 240, the 210's REPLACEMENT. It's going through FCC / EU CE testing now. The 240 is the real reason HP's Ipaq 210 cradle hasn't gone on sale yet... (BTW, a heads up. The 240 is basically the 210 running WM7, sold with a cradle... I believe it's got a processor higher than than the PXA310 too, but don't hold me to that.)

I work as a tester of radio devices (anything that uses radio waves, like wifi, bluetooth and any mobile phone) and unfortunately I'm covered by a NDA. But HP do give the game away with the title of the Ipaq 200 series cradle: FB035AA HP iPAQ 210/240 Desktop Cradle. And the name of the series group has gone from "Ipaq 210" to "Ipaq 200 series"

OK. I'll be optimistic and hope what you are saying is true. A high end full VGA iPaq running WM7 and with a better CPU would be a dream come true for me.

I am sorry but I don't see the relevance of this recommendation.
If I would carry it on me, it's a pda. I would carry it just like I carry my ipaq210 in a maxpedition thermite versipack. It's just too expensive.

Hi all, I've got a Ipaq 211. Thank you!

For that weitght and price, I would rather get a robust PDA like trimble nomad, Trimble - Nomad Handheld Computer
$1700-2300, 596g, water-proof

If this ipaq 240 is really coming, I'll probably buy it (to replace my Ax X50 :))

For those planning on waiting for the rumored iPAQ 240 (I say "rumored" because even if it is currently being tested, it would not be the first device at HP to get this far only to be canceled), I would caution you to remember the story of the iPAQ 211. When was it orginally scheduled to arrive at market? September 2007? When did it actually arrive? Over 6 months later! If you want to wait, OK. Just make sure you are in a situation where you can wait 6-9 months before making your final decision.

You might be right, but I'm still satisfied with my X50. I'd just like to have a PDA loading my GPS navigation program somewhat faster... But I can wait for one more year (maps don't get outdated that fast :))

Thanks for the tip on the ipaq 240. Maybe it will have the pxa320 instead of the pxa310.

Very true. And remember it won't be available until after M$ releases WM7. Sounds like this won't occur until the end of the year. So if you need a PDA soon, don't hold your breath for this on!

I own an HX2790b, Dell Axim X51V, and an iPaq 210, get an x51v off of ebay, and instal Lennysh wm6.1 on it. The only thing imo the 210 has that is better is faster wifi, screen has a little better color, and mini usb charging (which is a perk for me, so I can just use my old krazr's car charger with it). Video playback is far superior on the x51v, and games like call of duty 2, tomb raider, & need for speed run better and/or only on the x51v. I found my hx2790 to be even slightly zippier and have smoother video playback than the 210, despite the low-res screen.
