huh? 216? Where can I get some info on that?

Is it a more powerful device than the 210?

200=210=211=212=214=216

The numbers may be different to differentiate between the region that the device is sold in.

The iPAQ 240 on the other hand is supposedly coming with WM7.

Uhm...

The 216 is the latin american version, weirdly but it comes with the same chipset as the axim x51v (which would be the PXA270) while the 210 and 211 comes with the PXA300 but it's SUPPOSED to be no difference among them... bu I do see LOTS of them...

Now I have something to say ...

After several weeks of working with the 211, I must say that I am very happy and made the right choice. I really liked the Axim x51v, but on almost every front, I have found the 211 to be better.

The cons:
* The well documented screen sensitivity - but as also already noted I have gotten used to it.
* I liked that I could turn on the Axim with any key - not just power-on. That not only saved a key press, but also meant that I could always be sure that I could turn on the unit if for some reason the power-on button ever broke. You can only turn on the 211 with the power-on button. In general, the Axim had a better "Power" control panel than the 211 does.
* Along with that, I like the screen-lock button provided on the side of the Axim. Not as big a problem on the 211 (since as above only the power-on button turns on the device and it is pretty unlikely that it would get pressed while in your pocket, etc.)
* One of the buttons (the "Start" button) cannot be remapped at all. The other one (the "ok" button) can be remapped with the use of something like Spb PocketPlus (which I use). Plus, there is one less button on the side that can be used.
* The D-pad is harder to use if you want to page up. It takes some getting used to.
* The "backlight" widget that come with PocketPlus (and even the one that ships with the 211 itself) don't adjust the backlight that well.
* There aren't as many hardware accessories yet - and no decent cradle!
* It is bigger than the Axim, but not so much so that it is a big disadvantage. The Axim was already much bigger than my Palm so I got used to the larger size already anyway.
* If I believe the forums, no planned ROM updates. This thing better be pretty solid or that could become a problem! It also does not look like it is possible to get into the bootloader to install cooked ROMs either. You're stuck with the ROM you've got.

That's really about all I can say that is negative. And none of it is significant enough to out weigh the fantastic advantages.

The pros:
* An awesome screen! Better than the Axim's - and that's hard to believe. The extra screen real estate really makes a difference - as well as the improved screen brightness, etc. I also really like the auto adjusting backlight!
* Much better performance on everything except TCPMP (but I don't want movies so that is not a big deal for me). My Axim was cooked with the latest WM 6.1 image (an even newer build that what is on the 211); which made it faster than the stock WM5 image it shipped with But, the Axim just did not respond as well as the 211 does.
* More memory - which really helps the performance of the device.
* Battery performance is much improved over the Axim. I had an extended battery in my Axim and it does not last near as long as the standard battery that ships with the 211. And, I find that the 211 charges faster (but not over USB as also already noted by other reviewers). I also only am using a 2GB SD card in my 211 - after reading about the CF drain issue. I don't need more than that anyway. (Note that the early Axims had a similar CF power drain problem which also caused issues with power-on of the device. It was corrected with a ROM update.)
* Wi-Fi is faster and I have found it to be more reliable (less drops, etc.). Networking performance and reliability in general appears to be superior to the Axim.
* I like the iPAQ Data Store feature of being present over hard resets.
* I personally like the appearance of the device over that of the Axim.

It may look like I have more negative than positive. But, the negatives are mostly nits, while the positives are significant and make the day-to-day usage of the 211 much better than what I found with the Axim.

I was almost swayed away from getting a 211 from some of the negative posts I've seen. (I was just going to get a replacement Axim off eBay.) But, I'm very glad I went ahead and got the 211. So far, I am quite pleased and would recommend it highly. I hope it lasts and gives the same kind of quality service that the Axim did (until I dumped it in the toilet! BTW, it eventually dried out and it is working again perfectly except for the fact that I can't recharge the battery in the unit. Amazing, really! That's pretty good quality!)

Very briefly- I absolutely agree with the above, and extend both the plus and the minus side with one point on each.
-:I´ve been rather unlucky when my putting some files inside the iPaq File Store not knowing anything about this HP feature being a previous Loox owner, because it suddenly disappeared never to appear again even after HR. But as there is enough storage space otherwise, I don´t really care unless its disappearance is followed by some faulty behaviour of the system. So far , I haven´t noticed anything. Be careful about using this file, anyway!
+ Althought the default sound setting of the built-in speaker is rather low, I actually find it provides a very nice and balanced performance for soft, before- bed radio listening as it is, and with some quality headphones or speakers plugged in and/or some sound enhancing software (SRSHDWOW)installed, the sound you get is superb, depending on the quality of the source, of course.
Cheers

I owned a X50v for years even, upgraded it to wm6 (wm5 was awful and I just couldn't go back to 2003 and lose the memory persistence). I now own a 214 and am extremely happy with it. Things just work, WiFi, bluetooth etc. I also really like the buttons (hold functions are a godsend). However, there are three "Cons"
1) Major problem -Inaudible audio (I will need an external speaker to use a GPS navigation system)
2) There is is no physical "lock" mechanism.
3) minor issue missing the Wifi button.

All in all a very good upgrade.

Incidentally, talking about the differences in systems, the 214 has a marvell PXA310.

I'd buy it if i were you and could find a good price.

If your car has the Mini-input plug in its stereo, you could just pipe the iPAQ sound out through the car stereo. Also, you could configure one of the outside buttons to pull up Wi-Fi.

not much
bt 2.0, which is a big plus when tethering with 3G phone and get full speed, and able to work nicely with bt
you don't really need that new port, miniUSB is what you need
with Mugen battery, you should get more juice, even it's expensive

I've had my 211 since they became available. I moved up from an X50v which I've since sold. I have a detailed 211 review posted on MobileTechReview.com.

I find the 211 superior to the X50v in all ways but one--size. I carry my PDA in my pants pocket and the 211 is almost too big for that. But, the screen, memory, wifi, and battey life are unbeatable.

I'm not an HP fan in general, but the 211 is a great device.

I own 2 Dell X51v's and a HX2790b, and the 210.

I feel the 210 is the weekest of them, just mainly due to the size, lowsey touch screen.

I do feel the 210 has the better screen, and if your wanting a ppc for movies, coreplayer/tcmp still favours the x51v. The x51v has a louder speaker as well.

Just buy the x51v off ebay, and upgrade it with your choice of wm6.1 roms out there (i recomend lennysh a07 )after you upgrade you can enjoy sdhc.

I found as well I upgraded the batteries in my axim to 1300mah, and set the processor to auto, you get comparable battery life to the 210
