The Ipaq File Store disappeared !!!!!!??
Hi. A very strange thing happened to me yesterday just as I thought I´d finally installed all my progs correctly, made the device run very well and fast, and was feeling very happy about it. Just after I´done a reference SPB Backup, I noticed one or two progs weren´t working. I ran the file explorer to check the installation place-and, alas, I couldn´t see the The Ipaq file store section where the progs had been intalled. I was amazed, to put it mildly. Not that I cared so much about this HP novelty, but later I´d realized it might serve as a good place to keep some important files alive within the device itself in case of a hard reset. And now it was GONE. I sofresetted the device, of course-no result. I hardresetted the device, feeling pissed off, and , would you believe it, it STILL was not there. Now what else can I do apart from taking it to HP service store, which I don´t feel like doing as I guess I´s to do with the messed-up ROM. Has anybody had a similar experience ? Cheers

i can tell you what happened, i cant tell you how to fix it, however.
this is something that happens when you try to copy more information to the file store than what is available. if, for example, you set up your backup program to store the backup file to the file store (instead of the external storage), you may have surpassed the amount of memory allotted to internal storage without knowing it.
in short, the device needs to be reformatted. others have had to send the device back to hp to have them do this. i would back everything up to your computer and try a hard reset to see if that solves your missing file store.
other things to consider could be to use a memory utility like the powerful pocket mechanic, to see if the file store is visible, then reformat it with said utility...
best of luck

Hi. Thanks for your reply.I´m afraid I have already tried all of the suggested steps-hardresetting, and even restoring to factory setting-nothing helped. The folder is not visible, so I´ll have to live with that( in fact I don´t really miss it), or take it to HP service. What worries me , though, is what´s going to disappear next!:rolling:

Unfortunately Pocket Mechanic cannot see the IPAQ File store. The Ipaq file store is probably a partition formated into the main memory chip.
P.S.
When you hard-reset the Ipaq 210 the Ipaq file store is reformated alonh with any inserted memory cards. So the Ipaq file store will be emptied during a hard-reset.

Thanks guys.As I said above, I did try using PM and SKTools and Resco Explorer to locate the FIle Store. I hard-resetted the device twice or three times to no avail. Cheers!

Just out of curiosity could you tell me whether the storage space previously dedicated to the ipaq file store has been reallocated to your main storage; by going to start>settings>system>memory check where it says storage does it say 162.55 or 187.26. If it's the latter then the ipaq file store's space is now available for use in the main memory.

It says exactly 162.30MB , so the file store storage space is invisible and inaccessible now. Funny, eh ?!:(
