How Do I ...

connect my Windows Mobile Device? It says it's not connected and it says the same thing when I try to sync my pocket genealogist. Any help would be appreciated as I just got this yesterday, thanks!

Hugz,
Jo

Install ActiveSync on your computer if it is running XP; install Windows Mobile Device Center on your computer if it is running Vista. Then connect the IPAQ to your computer and let the connection wizard prompt you thru the steps of setting up a partnership and syncing your device.

You can download ActiveSync and WMDC from Microsoft's website.

Same Problem

I have installed windows mobile device center and still get not active and not connected. It says that I don't have the internet, but I do. I have wlan. Is there something I need to do to get it to recognize it? Also, I don't know what is going on as I install WMDC and it installs fine, but appears no where on my computer. I've restarted the computer quite a few times. I've unplugged and plugged everything back in. I reset the modem a router and still. It still insists I have no internet connection and I can't find WMDC anywhere on my computer. I am running Vista.

What does the internet have to do with syncing the IPAQ through Windows Mobile Device Center? Seems to me having an internet connection is a secondary concern...Please let's focus on getting a working WMDC syncing connection before worrying about an internet connection.

Please confirm that you downloaded WMDC from Microsoft's website and installed it to your computer. When you attach the IPAQ to your computer with the USB cable, does the computer make any kind of noise to indicate a new device has been connected?
