Power issues
Anyone had issues with any of the following:

Battery light stays on even when you unplug your 2210 / 2215, or
PDA locks up after powerup

It seems that there is an unusual power management driver on the 22xx (and the 555x too) that appears to have problems with a number of today-based battery monitor programs (Battery Pack One, Icbar, etc), Calligrapher, Textmaker and others when you have a SD card inserted..

How do I know this? Well, I'm using a working SD card (God knows I've tested enough in my time, it's a Simpletech 256mb Japanese card) and the software has been tested on that same SD card whilst it was in my sadly stolen Dell Axim X5.

And at least one software company has admitted that the 22xx has an "unusual" power driver which they're currently working their way around...

Since acquiring my 2215, I have had absolutely no problems. I am using Battery Pack and have not had any problem issues. I did have my 2215 lockup once but it was not due to power issues.

I don't have any problems concerning the power light staying on after unpluging the device, but occasionally I do have a lockup problem after entering my password on the device. This happens rarely (maybe once every 2-3 weeks) and I usually just perform a soft reset.

Guess I must be making it up.

Strange, I have to soft-reset my 2210 at least 3 times a day.

Hard resetted the device eighteen times in three weeks, problem with locking up still occurred when no software was installed BUT an SD card (freshly formatted and working fine) was in my iPaq.

Still, I must be wrong and everyone must be right, eh? (I wish I still had my Axim, only had to reset that once in 4 months)

Next time it it goes wrong, I'll video it and prove to ye doubters the flippin' thing isn't a patch on my Axim.

After doing a soft-reset, I would recommend not installing any battery programs (Wisbar, Battery Pack, etc.) and see how long you can go without a soft-reset.

Yep!
I know this issue with the charging, for me it only happens while its in the docker (craddle).
Nothing to worry about as my 3850 did the same, just a lil' soft reset and your back on your feet.

i usually never soft reset my pocket pc, i also do not have any 3rd part virus filled software
i had that crap before and i uninstalled it, my pocket pc worked perfectly after that
ive notied that my pocket pc when left for a couple days seems to die as if it were being used, after about 3 days the battery is down to 35% even if i turn it on for 5 mins per day to check schedule, any idea of what is causing the power drain? i don't haev any alarms that i know of turned on

When turning off the PPC, it is actually in standby mode. Some power is still used for the internal clock. Even though the screen is off, the internal clock checks the notification db to see if there are any notifications or alarms that need to go off.

Sorted out my lockup problems.

All the programs I require to be running when I switch my 2210 on are now installed to storage memory rather than my Panasonic 512mb SD card. (SD card is fine, I've low-level tested the thing a number of times....)

Only lockup issues are now down to Bluetooth, even after the HP BT update...

Only problem with my 2210 is with it being 8mb short of memory and the programs I've installed to main memory, I'm running out of ram! Oh, and HP needing to update the rom to sort out the dodgy power management issue...

Yeah, your PPC will cause problems if you have today screen plugins installed to SD card rather than the internal memory due to the time it takes the SD card to wake up.

In regard to the ram issue, try Where Is My Ram. This is a freeware app that you can use to find out where all of your space is going. You can identify by folders what is hogging up the most space.

Where Is My Ram?

It all depends on how you use your PPC. I have tons of apps on my PPC. Most of which I have installed on my SD Card but some files still get written to \Windows depending on the app. Since I also do serious surfing with my PPC you will have space taking up with internet cache files and cookies. I also use pocket inbox alot which also takes up room.

But I have a good balance with the apps that I have installed on my SD card and the ones I have to install to main memory. It is still good to know what folders in main memory is taking up alot of ram (some of which is unnecessary).
