AFAIK, the ARM processors are not overclockable.

I just found an old freeware app called IPAQCLK that I used to overclock my iPAQ 3835 from 203 mhz to 236 mhz. So far it works OK. I have noticed a slight increase in speed.

Overclocking is okay, but sometimes it causes serious damage. Most of the time it is okay, but you should stull be careful. Just as a rule of thumb, only use it when you have to. So when you are surfing the net, put it up a bit, when playing simple games like backgammon or pong or something, try underclocking it when you don't need the speed. That way you are always safe. Uncerclocking also has its problems though. Most of the time, you shouldn't over or underclock. Underclocking can also cause the processor to do funny things. Just a guide, but they are basic rules to follow.

Never have done this myself, but what is the worst case scenario as far as the type of damage that will occur?

The worst overclocking will do is fry your processor making it unuseable. Underclocking is not as often done, so I am not sure of its effects, however it will probably still cause a problem.

I used to overclock my AMD K6-III 450 ghz and Athlon 1.2 ghz. But since I got my P4 2.8 ghz, I had no need nor no intention to do so. And I would not dare try, if it would be possible, do it on my Inspiron 8200 1.7ghz (would cry if it would fry!).

I would especialy not do it to my 2210. It's a lot more expensive to replace than a lonely chip should something go wrong. Plus I only overclocked for high graphic games. Hardly needed on my 2210.

Just my .02$. If you see any use for it. Give it a go.

Overclocking on a PDA is rarely done. There isn't much of a need for it right now. I have only used it once, because I wanted to test out how fast my PPC would go. I chickened out by only overclocking it about 10MHz and then realized I didn't want to screw up my unit.

Well since I have a 3835, with PPC 2002 (wait.. cant remember.. that is it, right?) and I often put videos on my storage card, only Pocket TV playing MPEG videos run smoothly and great, but if I try RM (real media), WMV, or AVI, it lags really bad... so I was thinking if I were to OC a little I would be able to watch files other than MPEG. I have tried using converters but they always make the picture worse if I try to convert something like an AVI to a MPEG.

I am using a 3835, and I am having the same problems with certain videos. MPEGs play well when I use Pocket TV. But .rm videos don't play well, or at all, with RealPlayer for Pocket PC. WMV videos don't play well with Windows Media Player, even with the update.

PocketMVP plays MP3 and AVI files well. But it does not play MPEGs, at least the ones that I converted from Quick Time, for more than a few seconds.

I guess we need to upgrade to a faster iPAQ with a newer OS if we want to watch videos...

My experience has led me to believe Intel cpus are indistructable. The only case fan failed on a 1u server of ours running a p4 2.4. We had disabled overheat shutdown and it got so hot it melted the cpu fan and welded the cpu to the heatsink. It finally stopped working when the case temp got hot enough to trip the thermal cut out in the psu. Cpu still works fine to this day
