Help me plz!3800 or 3900...?
Hi all you guyz!!!I 've decided to go for a used ipaq instead of a tohsiba e740..I am between the following choices and i would really appreciate any help!!What would you choose and why???
1) H3870+Wireless SD+Jacket CF for £220
2)3850 + 256MB SD for £170
3) 3830 + 65mb SD + CF jacket for £190
--
4) 3950 for £150
5) 3970 for £175

I would like a wireless card and a cf jacket( cf especially cause i have a coupe fo cf cards wich would be really usefull)..But from the reviews i've read it is worth buying the 3970 ...Mostly for the extra memory cause the bluetooth would not be used by me very often...In summary I like the accessories that come with the 3800 series but I get a better security feeling with the 3970...
What do you think???

I have the 3950; the screen is really nice. I swapped somebody my 2215 for it, and really do like the screen better. I have the dual CF sleeve, among other things, and have tons of memory on it. I don't think you could go wrong with it.

Gatewood, I am curious why you swapped your h2215 for a h3950. The h3950 is a nice device but the h2215 is newer and more feature packed IMO.

I had a yellow screen with the 2215. I hated that! The 3950 has the 2003 upgrade, and since I also have a 4155, the size wasn't an issue for me. I have about seven handhelds, so the 3950 was a nice addition to my collection! My current favorite is the 4155, but I also have a Toshiba e805 with the dual slots, so the 2215 was just redundant (as if that should matter to somebody with too many pdas!).

Hmmm. Not meaning to hijack this thread so my apologies.

Just to point out before getting back on topic that the yellow tint was prevelent in the h4155 iPaqs and not the h2215. I have not heard of one h2215 device with a yellow tint. If yours did, then that is the first that I heard of.

OK, I'll leave the topic alone, too, but yes, my 2215 was very yellow; my 4155 is only yellow if I turn it up to an extreme angle.

OK, thanks for that info. At any rate the h3950 is a nice device.

I've heard -everything- seems yellow or milky or faded compared to the 39xx series screens. I refuse to compare my 3845 to a 3900 so I don't get tempted to upgrade! ( I know the 39's would be hard to find now. )

I would opt for the 3970 as it has the built in bluetooth and you can use the SDIO cards - the 3800 series cannot use the newer SDIO options (I found out the hard way) all the sleeves are compatible and fairly inexpensive. The upgrade to 2003 is pretty much painless as well - I have been watching the prices on 38's and 39's (on eBay) and it seems pretty comparable. The other reviews and using both seem to indicate that the 39's are a bit more efficient in their use of resources as well.

The end result is your choice but given the items that you have described above IMO the 3970 is the better choice!
