Virus Protection
Are there currently any viruses that can be passed using an iPAQ on various PCs and if so what forms of protection are there for our pocket marvels

Cheers

None that I heard of. However if there are any out there it is not that many and I am also sure that some virus programmers out there is developing viruses that will attach PDAs as well.

Difficult to answer this question as there are currently no viruses for PocketPC's inthe wild to see if something works or not

I thought there were some PDA viruses out there... hmm that's strange.

I'm using Trend-micro's PC-cillin for pocket PC. I don't know how well it works, but so far it hasn't detected anything.

Here's a link:

I believe one 'virus' has been 'proven' as possible in a lab. But it has not been 'released' which may be the reason why you haven't detected one

That's good news to hear. Maybe I'll just delete that app then to free up some memory. On Trendmicro's site, I did notice that the last update to PC-Cillin was 2001 (!) so LOL it doesn't sound like there's many PDA hackers out there writing scripts.

Upon doing a quick Google, it looks like the "first" virus was announced in July 2004. The author submitted it to various anti-virus companies to prove it could be accomplished. I see also a mention of a Russian programmer also developing one.
