h3630 - What speed is the USB?
This device came out in the early days of USB. Does anyone know what speed the h3630 operates at? The reason I ask is that it does not seem substantially quicker than Serial at 115Kbps. Certainly, the backup operation takes the same amount of time. Some ops, like sync Avantgo, do seem a bit quicker!

I'm just curious

It is definitely USB 1.1 compliant, which I believe is only about 22Kbps faster than serial. But don't quote me, as I am not completely sure.

The iPAQ and cradle is USB 1.1 compliant. However transferring files and such via the cradle is very slow. This is because of Activesync. It looks at every file and determines if the file needs to be converted slowing down the copy process.

That's why one of the most recommended things to buy is a card reader! A fast card reader with a fast card is a truly great thing when you are used to ActiveSync...it just seems like a 1000% increase.

That makes sense, I suppose. It does seem to vary depending on what is being done. Although, I must say that the [USB] speed difference between my h3630 and h4150 is dramatic. There is simply no comparison.

The "compliance" to USB 1.1 probably has no definition of speed performance, simply that it can communicate at up to the standard (I'm guessing) leaving large margins for actual performance.

I was thinking that the h3630 was just a slower chipset - or possibly just that its got an old processor that simply doesnt clock all that fast. Never really got into the internals of the PPC. Treated them more like an appliance, you know .....kettle, toaster, hob, blender, PDA.
