What have I got and help please?
First time here and would appreciate some help. I have an inherited 3630 and would like help with the following:

1. Which version of Pocket PC do I have? "About" says "Pocket PC Version 3.0.11171 (Build 11178). "Asset Viewer" says; Product revision level: 1.0, ROM date: 10/03/01, ROM Revision: 2.14.03 ENG, OS Version: 3.0. Is this Pocket PC 2002 or 2003?

2. Also I'm trying to install a driver for a CF 802.11b card, but when I tap it, it says "win CE not compatible with Pocket PC", or words to that effect. Does that mean I can't use this driver with Pocket PC 200X?

Many thanks

Duncan,

Your 3630 has been installed Pocket PC 2002.

But you won't be able to upgrade it to PPC2003 (aka Windows Mobile 2003), as HP stopped supporting this model. Thus, no way you can do that.

Also as far as I know there are significant changes in PPC 2002 and PPC 2003, thus the driver for one OS is not working for another.

You will really need the PPC2002 version of teh driver for your CF WIFI card.

Good luck.

You have the same PPC as I have and unless you have flashed the ROM with a lighter version of 2002 you have Win CE 2000 which is the original version that came on all of the 3600 series. You can update to 2002 but not to 2003. If you want to know more you may PM me. I have upgraded my RAM which does help with storage but the real version of 2002 which was sold on later versions of the Ipaq is too large for the flash ROM on yours and mine. I am still searching for the 2002 upgrade if you come across it let me know.
