My 3630 plans
Hi all, I'm new here and have a few questions and ideas I'd like to run by you.

The in-car Ipaq
I intend to use my 3630 as an incar computer, having limited success with mini-itx and full on atx, I thought I'd give Pocket PC a try.

The equipment so far
- Compaq Ipaq 3630
- Nexian Duel CF jacket
- CF GPS (and a USB version)
- CF 512mb
- CF Wifi
- Compaq PCMCI Jacket

This enables me to have GPS and MP3 on the move, the problem is storage space. I have read a few articles here and there about adding a harddrive to an Ipaq via PCMCIA and an Adonics PCMCIA to 2.5 HDD at here
This would solve my storage problem but then I would not be able to use my GPS

So, what I want
I want to give my 3630 a USB HOST via pcmcia, this way I could connect a harddrive and usb GPS.

Has anyone managed to get USB HOST on an IPAQ of this type?

Further
I plan on using the ipaq as a more intigrated computer system within the car, I intend to use the serial interface with an input output board so that I can pass information from the car to the ipaq. The idea being that I will build the ipaq into the dash of the car so it would look 'factory fitted' I would welcome any suggestion people would have for ideas on use.

Many thanks to those who read

John

Not that I know of - but good luck with your search - sounds cool.

What were the problems with itx? I had mine running fine until my lcd screen decided not to work anymore. I couldnt justify spending money on a new lcd screen at the time so I installed a program called remoteAmp, where the mp3s are still being played by the computer but you have a nice frontend on the ipaq. Its not really cost effective for large storage space on these older ipaqs I dont think eh.

Hi,

Well, the main reason for leving itx was power and the time it takes to boot, the ipaq is instant on.
Also the tft I used was 5.6 and the backlight failed, i have since installed xp onto my itx and use terminal services combined with a virtual display program on the ipaq to give me a vga screen, and opperate the pc from there.

As far as navigation though, the best software i have found it tomtom, does anyone know of a way to run tomtom on a pc?
