iPAQ H3630 Schematic Required
Help!!!

My 4 year old iPAQ has finally given up and will not power up, I have tried a different battery/charger.

I personally think it's the charging circuit, HP want to charge me £175 to get it repaired!

I have engineering knowledge and can find my way around a PCB, if someone has either specific information or a complete schematic I would be very greatfull.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome aboard gadget1st I am sorry to hear of your plight. Have you thought about replacing it I replaced mine about 2 months back for about $125 us on ebay the good thing aside from the synch cradle most everything that you have for it will work on any of the h series 3600 - 5500 series I bought an h 3950 and haven't looked back. I loved my h 3630 but this soooo much faster and I got to keep all my memory card and expansion pack.

BTW I could not locate any schematics for the h 3600 when I looked. Needed to replace front bezel.

While I love the concept of all DIY projects...I'd say that a 3630 wouldn't be worth saving.
You could buy a used 3630 on ebay for less than $50 but I'd take this opportunity to upgrade!!
At least go with a H37xx series....and can still be bought for around $50
The H3765 is a great unit still, I have one still, although it has been handed down to my son. Works great after all these years, and a tremendous upgrade from the 3630.

The charging controller is made by BENCHMARQ for compaq.
It is actually a BQ2057CTS, look on the Texas Instruments site for a datasheet.

This chip is on the back side, so you have to take the pcb out to check/replace this IC. The transistor and FET are on the other side left of the battery connector

Also get:
ftp://ftp.handhelds.org/misc/compaq/.../PDF/Reference power.pdf

The circuit on page 3 looks simmilar to the circuit of the ipaq.
Only the MAX846AEEE is then the BQ6257CTS
