OK, I screwed up, any suggestions?

OK, I was surfing craigslist, and saw an ipaq 3650 for $15 with the PC Card expansion sleeve. I bought it sight unseen. B.I.G Mistake. I get it and it has three black smudges on the screen. Not like dead pixels, they are much bigger. Also, the battery is totally shot, won't even power it up. Basically I got myself into a mess. OK, so basically what should I do now? Is there any way to fix the black smudges? I don't know what they are. And, what would be the best source for a new battery?

Thanks guys

you want to take a picture of the screen and post?
as for the battery, you have to get a new one.
Good thing it's only $15.

Well,
Get a new battery, and have you tried wiping the screen with a cloth? Maybe a alcohol wipe? I can't suggest anything else, if i don't have a picture...

I'll try to get a picture, it's hard to show the spots, but I think I can handle it. And the spots show when it is off as well, if that helps any. I found a battery on ebay for $10, is it worth it to put that into it? I've never owned an ipaq, so I don't know much about theat all. It does have a larger screen than any of my PDAs, as I don't have a screen protector big enough, lol. I'll get some pics today

You shouldn't have to accept inferior equipment, what did the disclaimer say when you bought the device?$15 is cheap, but was it an impulse buy?

Without seeing the picture of the screen, I would think the digitalizer is damaged. It sounds like something dropped on the screen or someone might have had it in the pocket and bumped into something hard.

I had Tungsten C in my fanny pack and I was reaching for 6 pack of soda pop and my waist was pressing against the edge of the shelf; when I took the Tung out there was black smudge on the screen and when I pressed the screen I could see the smudge moving around a little.

What happen when you press the on the smudge? Did it move a little?
Replacing the screen/digitalizer would be about $100.
But without knowing if the 3650 even works, it will be a gamble. Either buy a new battery and see if it works or send it to either of two sites:

Pocket PC Techs - WriteSHIELD™ Screen Protector/Lil' Sync® Cable/Power Adapter Accessories, Screens/LCD Repairs, RAM/Memory/Battery Upgrades for HP/Compaq iPAQ h3650

PDASmart is the iPaq Repair and iPaq Parts Headquarters!

They should be able to check it out and let you know if it is repairable and how much.

Good luck.

I haven't really tried pressing on the smudge, but it still responds in that area, there are no problems with the screen accuracy when I tap on the spot, but when I push it, it does not seem to move at all. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? I'm pretty sure the battery is bad as it always just says charging, the charging lamp never shows a steady light and when I go to power it says that the battery is charging, it's been plugged in for 3 days and it still has not changed from charging.

UPDATE!:
I tried pushing on the screen, no effect, tried pushing slightly on the sides, very slight movement. Tried pushing on the back, and.. LOTS of movement, the black spots move around quite a bit. But this is where the story gets twisted, and gets really weird. I took the ipaq off the charger and pulled the sleeve off. Then I plugged the sleeve in and plugged the ipaq in. I turned the ipaq on and and immediately noticed something out of the ordinary. The black spots, save for the smallest one were gone! GONE! Put the sleeve back on, and bam the smudges reappear! Any clues as to if this is normal and what should I do?
