A couple of questions about a 3950

I recently bought a used 3950 for a fair price. It's been working fine, until just tonight. I've been wracking the Internet looking for a solution, and not being able to find it, I defer to the experts.

For some reason my iPaq no longer recognizes the battery. I know that the battery's charged and the connectors are in place. The wires look fine. I can't figure out what in the world is the problem.

Here's what happened: I took the case off after I noticed that it was loose. Immediately after that the iPaq turned off. It had had a full charge, so I was suspicious. I checked the connections, which were fine, then I disconnected them and connected them again. The darn thing wouldn't turn on!

I'm at my wit's end. Is there anyone who has an idea what might have happened? Is there anything I can do about it?

On a side note, I noticed that before this trouble started every so often the contacts, inbox and calendar screens would all come up at once without me doing anything to open them. Does anyone know what would cause this problem?

Thanks for any advice that I end up getting.

If I remember this right, when you disconnect the battery, you loose the ROM ("operating system" in PC-language) - and have to re-install from a PC via the docking station. You need the original CD or similar, and push the right buttons i a particular manner.

The other possibility - some internal thing stopping the battery to be connected. Does the charging light go on when you connect the IPAQ to USB or a charger?

You would not lose the OS, just your own data. Have you tried a hard reset?
