3950 Froze on 2003 upgrade problems

Hello
I am trying to upgrade my 3950 to wm 2003. Application initiated, and my ipaq is on a screen that just says USB, COMPAQ, v0. 48.

It seems stuck to me, as mylaptop has the message that it is 'checking device, please wait' and it has progressed no further.

I didn't have the ac power connected so my laptop powered off after about an hour or so. Now my ipaq is frozen on the screen and it will not power off.

Help :(.

You should never attempt any kind of ROM update on a pocket pc without having the Pocket PC directly plugged into AC power.

Try the procedure again. This time, plug the USB cable directly into a USB port on the computer (don't use a USB hub), plug the Pocket PC directly into AC power, turn off all power saving options on your computer, remove any installed storage cards from the Pocket PC, and disable your computer's firewall. Also, be sure you are running the upgrade from an XP computer (Vista is not compatible). Hopefully, you have not bricked your device.

Everything is plugged directly to laptop. Ac power plugged. The usb connection was not established. Screen still on same screen as before. Can't get it to do anything. When the battery dies, will I be able to try again? Will serial connection work

This is the second pda in a month to go bad for me.

Thank you sooo much Julie. I did as you suggested and now all is well.

I finally have WM 2003 OS loaded, and now other applications, including SPB pocket plus 4.0 and the netcf, are working.

The knowledge you guys dispense is greatly appreciated.
