Hi all,

I bought a used 3950 that may have been running 2003, and I didn't realize it. It was all working fine, and it would/could read my 4GB SD card with tomtom 6 on it. However, not realizing that it was probably running 2003, I bought the 2003 upgrade off ebay, and flashed it to 2003 again. Now, my SD slot isn't working with anything. I can put in a card, and 30-60 minutes later, the 3950 will come back and tell me it has an unrecognized card, do I want to format it. I say yes or no, and then it gives me some generic error, and that's the last I see of it.

Does anyone have a fix for this SD card issue I keep seeing, or does anyone have a 2003 ROM backup with a working SD card that I could get and try to restore to see if I can get my SD slot working. I have tried backleveling to 1.11 (2002), and my SD slot still doesn't work. I've also tried upgrading/downgrading with and without an SD card installed.

Any help/advice appreciated.

did you rom update/downgrade with the sd installed during the install?

you may want to reflash without the card in the slot.

worst case, backup the sd, reformat and see if the device recognizes it

I've tried doing upgrade and downgrade with the SD card installed, and I've tried upgrade and downgrade with the SD card removed. I have bought a brand new Sandisk UltraII 2GB SD card, just to have something blank, that I don't care if I reformat, and it is not recognizing that card either.

Took a MUCH closer look, and it appears that a couple of the pins on my SD Slot are unfixably bent. So, I have opened a repair/replacement ticket with ipaqrepair.com. We'll see if that fixes the problem (The repair is more than I paid for the unit... :-( )
