I've had my trusty old iPaq 3650 since 2001. It's got a little dust in the screen. I've had to replace the stylus lock, and upgraded the rom to 2002, upgrade the battery, etc.. But it has been a trusted and reliable friend for a long time. I use it for email, ebooks, internet radio, audiobooks, and streaming video from my dektop pc. Haven't had any luck streaming video from the internet, though.

But I hope my new one will fare better.
I sort of feel like I'm betraying an old friend by getting a new one. I have to admit, my eye's have been wandering for a while now. I see a friends Pocket PC and the screens look so good. I remember when I thought my ipaq screen looked like that. And then there's the memory thing. 32MB just doesn't seem to cut it anymore. Plus I have to juggle a wi-fi card and a cf memory card. What a pain. I did it for a long time, though. wireless apps in main memory, and everything else on the 512MB cf card.
But I feel it's time for an upgrade. Funny, most people I know that have pocket pc's usually have gone thru 6 or 7 by now. I don't know what's wrong with me, cuz I'm just going on my second. :o
So today, I ordered an HP HX4705. It's got a nice big screen, built-in wi-fi, and a CF slot which means I'll be able to use the CF cards I was using with my 3650's expansion sleeve. And no more juggling cf cards! I can just put the 512MB card in and leave it! Woohoo! This is gonna be great! I just hope the 4705 will be as trusty and reliable as my old 3650 was. I would like to think that I won't be needing another upgrade for another 5 years or so. Any thoughts on that? I would like to hear from anyone that has upgraded from a 3650 or other older ipaq to the 4705. How is that working out for ya? Will it be as good a friend to me as my old 3650 was? Also, what should I do with my old one? I was thinking of selling it on ebay, or maybe just keeping it as a backup in case my 4705 doesn't work out. But I think it would be cool to find some way to keep it around and useful for something. Any ideas?
