4350 not till late DEC. or early JAN????
No 4350 forum so I'm posting this here, I just read a post over at Brighand that the 4350 is not coming out until late December or Early January. Someone tell me this is not true!!!!! I have been waiting for the 4350 to come out so that I could compare it to the 4150. I currenltly own a Clie TG-50 and love having the keyboard since I send/respond to alot of e-mails. I wanted to get a PPC with a keyboard but also wanted a small form factor. Any one have any news on this??

I wish I still had that link from a reivew (I think it was the CNET review, but I can't find the link there now). The link went to something like HP small business and they had it there.

I was considering the 4355 before I bought the 4155. I must say, if the 4355 would have been available through the academic program, I probably would have bought it, especially for the battery life.

Anyone know of a different availability date?

They say available. I am not sure how much you can trust that, though.

Thanks for the link, I definately want to wait for it to get into a brick and mortar store so I can check it out first hand. I would also like to be able to exchange it the same day if I do not like it.
I'm very partial to thumboards and that's why the 4350 seems to be my perfect PDA. How do you like your 4150?? Do you have any accessories for it yet??

I like it very much. I like i more than any other PPC i have owned or used.

I haven't gotten any accessories yet, but my list to consider are thumb keyboard, sena case, and the extended battery.

I guess in a way I am close to building a 4355

I may go the same route as you if the 4350 doesn't come out soon. I saw pictures of the thumboard and it looks really cool, It's even cooler that it can be removed and you have a truly pocketable device. I'm with you on the flip covers also, I have a TG-50 that I can pocket without any extra cases which is a huge plus.

The thumboard is GREAT! I went to buy one and they were out of them....... but a guy there had one and I tried it out! It's really great, and in my mind better than what you will HAVE to use on the 4300 series....... I would rather use it when I wanted than deal with the size of the 4300..... I have used one and it is quite big!

Does the 415x clip on thumb board cover up the D-pad and hardware buttons?

A few clip on boards on the older IPAQ's covered up the control area to save space and then passed through the hardware buttons to the front panel.

If this is true for the 415x then it would definitely be shorter than the 4350x in length, which is a good thing!

From the pics I have seen, yes
it does.

Don't forget about the high capacity battery on the 4355... that would be sweet.

I just received mine from Circuit City yesterday and it does cover up the D-pad and hardware buttons. Hardware buttons can be accessed via a funtion and other letter key press, but unfortunately go back to the default hardware configuration and as far as I can tell cannot be made to match any custom hardware buttons you have set.

There are left, right, up, and down keys adjacent to the center space bar to take the place of the D-Pad.

Unlike the old HP Jornada 568 clip-on keyboard I had there is unfortunately no backlight, which looks to be the real advantage of the 4350 keyboard.

The keyboard fits very snug on the bottom of my 2215 and while the keys are close together they are raised quite high and offer great key travel and feedback. Hopefully some inventive developer creates a utility like the old HP Hotkey I had that allowed me to assign different functions to the keys.

HP is coming out with an 1800 mAh high capacity battery for the 415x series. Should be about $50. See here .

Some sites said they wont have it untill early next year, however HandheldCanada.com says they wont have it shipping until Nov.28, same with Tekntoys.

However, someone I know has emailed them and none of the business are sure on when they will be shipping.

HPShopping has the 4355 in now! Same as the 4350, just a model # for home users.
