I think for all that stuff at present, you’ll need a PDA with a CF slot because, AFAIK, there are no sd cards for Ethernet. I currently have two PDAs (Dell Axim X5 and iPaq 2215) and, at least in theory, they both can do all of those things. I don’t have direct experience with using a serial cable to terminal to a cisco router or ssh/telnet, but I know there are serial cables for both of these PPCs so I assume that is possible and PocketTTY, Mocha Telnet, and Zterm are programs for ssh/telnet.
Besides the PDAs, I have:
Socket 10/100 Ethernet CF card (I've seen other Ethernet cards but most of them have been 10mbps)
SMC SMC2642W CF card and D-Link DCF-660W CF card (My SMC has better range of these two. Socket’s Low Power CF card is the best on the market)
Combo Serial/USB cable for 2215 (a serial cable is also available for the Axim)
IP Manager, PocketLAN and vxUtil all have Ping commands (as do several other PPC programs)
Kingston 256 sd card (also a Smart 256 sd – very inexpensive – works in Axim, not in iPaq)
A final note: I like both of these PPCs. The Axim is a great machine (and was my first PDA) but I decided I wanted something smaller. I might have gone with the X3i except, in addition to the network cards mentioned above, I also have a Video CF card and I just wanted to have the utility of the CF slot.
