Screen Protector
What is everyone's favorite screen protector for the iPAQ 415x series PDA? I've used Pocketpctechs Writeshields on an iPAQ 3635 and was happy. Anything new and better? I use my iPAQ outside, so I like the anti-glare aspect of teh Writeshields.

I don't have a 4100 series iPAQ, I have the 2215. However I have looked a Pocketpctechs and decided to go with Belkins Screen Protector.

Actually, does anyone know of a PDA screen size that is comparable to the 415x so we don't have to go looking for 41xx-specific screen protectors? Most 'new' protectors are just another PDA's size rebadged.

The 415x has a 3.5" diagonal screen in a 4:3 aspect ratio.

Hoping to find some outdated Palm or older PPC screen savers at a discount!

The HP iPaq 1935 and the 1945 has the same screen dimensions.

I was once no screen protector person as I didnt like the idea. Then because of obvious reasons I bought some but cheaper ones but it turn out to be not so good experience. You do get used to it with time but you really feel the difference. Like when you take it out for replacement you see a shiney neat screen and you think why o why I cant have that always.

And then finally after quite some time I took a plunge to buy costly one and now its never going back.

I use Martin Fields now on my 2215 and you can not tell if there is anything on the screen or not. I would highly recommend anyone to spend this money once and then feel the superior experience.

I looked into the Martin Fields screen protectors, but decided against them due to them being "glossy" like the original screen. I've used the 4155 naked and the glare outside was very bad. I cut down one of my WriteShields for the 3.5" display and I'm currently using it. Much better in my opinion.

Anyone used the Boxwave Cleartouch protectors? How about the ScreenGuardz?

I'm using the Belkins since someone gave me a few... they're ok for free, but I really don't like how they look on the unit - in direct light I get a strange rainbow effect coming off the film. But I figure it's better than scratching up that beautiful screen.

Martin Fields.

At first, I was quite hesitant due to the high price of MF, but once I had it, it is the best around I've ever used.
You want to know how to really compare screen protectors quality? Try playing Bejeweled on your PPC for extended length of time. I mean, around 2-3 hours per day. My friend with Brando have already had this boxy-marks (courtesy of Bejeweled, hehehe... ) on his screen protector, while mine is still as good as new.

Sure, one can always go about using much cheaper screen protectors. I used it before and I can tell you, once it starts giving these scratch marks around the SIP (soft input panel) area, then you'll feel your PPC is ugly,

For me, if the PPC has cost you so high, and the screen is one of the most expensive component, why would you go for a class B screen protectors?

FYI:

Everyone at PPCT raves about the PPCTechs screen protectors. (WriteShield I believe is its name)

I have tried the NuShield protectors and they are pretty nice. I also believe I tried another really nice one that may have started with a G(anyone know?).

Hehe...found out the name of the other one! It is the G2 screen protector. I'm looking forward to these as they're supposed to be the clearest, and the most like the original screen.

Boxwave Cleartouch screen protectors are the best on the market. They even out performed WriteShields in comparison testing.

I use a Boxwave protector and they are great. No more horrible glare. Very nice textured feel. And the thing literally dropped right onto my screen.

I bought two different types of screen protectors to try out. I bought the Boxwave Cleartouch and the NLU ScreenGuardz. Since the ScreenGuardz were the cheapest in cost, I thought I would try them first. These screen protectors are very thin and use static cling to attach themselves. I cleaned the screen and proceded on. It took me over 15 minutes to position the protector to my satisfaction. I was not impressed with the outcome. First, I was after a screen protector that cuts down on glare since I use my iPAQ outside in bright sunlight. The ScreenGuardz were a little to "shiny". Second, the static cling method of attachment was very difficult to deal with. Bubbles everywhere. After 15 minutes of installation I was able to work most of the bubbles out. When the PDA was on it looked "ok", but when turned off you could still see quite a few bubbles. The writing feel was "rubbery" which I didn't like. After a little use, I removed the ScreenGuardz and re-cleaned the screen. Next I tried the Boxwave Cleartouch protectors. These almost fell into place without trying. A small bubble close to an edge was worked out in seconds. The glare reduction on the Boxwave's was what I was expecting, GREAT. The writing feel was like paper, again GREAT. I'm going to stick with the Boxwave's. Maybe I'll try using the ScreenGuardz on my Cellular phone screen.
