Strange WI-FI Connectivity Issue
Guys,

I really need your help! I'm going crazy with my new Ipaq 4155.

The problem is, of course, with the Wi-Fi connectivity but I'm having a problem I have not seen anywhere else.

Here's the deal: I'm getting a signal connection as well as to some accesibility to the internet, but the problem is that some websites download to my PDA while others don't.
For example, I have access to cnn.com but not to bmwusa.com
It seems to me that I'm having problems downloading large images but I'm not sure.

The funny part is that this problem only happens at home. I have no problems whatsoever with any open connection (for example at my School)

My configuration is as follows: Ipaq 4155, WAP54G Wi-Fi access point, I have everything set to "My work Network", I have the "share internet connection" enabled at my laptop computer, no encryption whatsoever.

Please help!!

Thanks!!!!!!!!!

It sounds like you have some issues at the laptop. Rather than using the laptop as a gateway, I would use a direct connection to the internet. (I.e., use your gateway directly from the Ipaq.) In your Work Network connection, in the Proxy settings, select the checkbox that says, "This network connects to the Internet." And, in your Network Management section, the pulldown regarding "Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using:" select My Work Network. This way, any internet connectivity will use your gateway, rather than being relayed by your laptop.

Hope this helps!

Try this, it's worth a try
First of all, are you utilizing a static IP configuration, or are you allowing the XP Pro machine to serve as an DHCP allocator? It appears that your IP configuration is correct since you are at least receiving some connectivity. Have you attempted to adjust the power save features on the iPAQ? I experienced WiFi issues where I would connect only sometimes and when I connected, the bandwidth was quite slow.

Try setting the power save feature on the iPAQ to "auto," it's worth a try.

Guys,

Thanks so much for your help.

I tried both suggestions and they were both right!

I was having Windows set a static IP address and that was part of the problem but not all. I had to change the savings feature from auto to off in order to make it work.

Why? Not a clue....but it worked!

Thanks again!
