Wireless Internet Cable
Hi everyone!
i have found a Wireless Internet Cable for my non-Bluetooth phone (Motorola Timeport) on a website: Pocket Solutions (http://www.thepocketsolution.com/index.htm). Does anyone know how this cable works? and equally important...is it worth the $39.95 cost? my iPAQ has WiFi and Bluetooth embedded (iPAQ h4155), but the write-up on the website says with this cable and my phone i can "surf the web" anywhere??? i.e. no HotSpot needed! btw, if i purchase a Bluetooth phone would this cable still be needed?

A Wireless Internet cable allows you to use your cellphone as a wireless modem when it is connected to your PPC. When you have the cable, setup a modem connection to your ISP and select Hayes Compatible modem on Com1. This will make the PPC dial to your ISP using your cellphone. I am not sure how the warranty works on Pocket Solutions. For Gomadic cables, they have a lifetime warranty on the cables and an exchange policy. If you buy one of their cables and later you either change cellphones or PDA's, you can send back your cable and they will send you the correct one for your new outfit. So the $39.95 cost of their cables is a one-time investment. Not bad IMO.

Another thing to consider. You must make sure that you can use your cellphone a wireless modem through your cellphone provider. There is usually an extra cost for this.

If you decide to go with a Bluetooth phone, then you won't need the cable. But you still have to make sure that you can use the cellphone as a wireless modem.

Thanks...as usual your answers are just what i need!!! quick response, plain english and to the point. i think, i'll pass on the cable for now and just concentrate on learning my iPAQ and everything else that it can do...
btw, still have the "cradle/desktop freeze-up" problem...i think i'm forced to un/re-install ActiveSync as a last resort. wish me luck!!!

I was thinking of a Gomadic cable, but then I couldnt type with my keyboard and then go onto the internet.

I think its time for a Bluetooth phone!

And have you tried deleting and then creating a new partnership? That worked for me a couple times.
