e-mail connection
I'm having issues with wifi e-mail connection on my 4155. I have a wifi network, and I can surf the net just fine on my 4155. When I set my e-mail for a new account, it auto configures my broadband ISP settings. But when I push to retrieve mail, it simply gets hung up and says, connecting, then "Logging on"...
it never goes past that. Once or twice it worked, but now I can't get it to retrieve any mail, it just stays at the "Logging on" part.
I have an Axim as well, and have never had any e-mail retrieval problems there. Just wondering what the issue is.
The 4155 is such a superb PDA, and I just love it, so I can't wait to get this issue cleared up!
I of course can retrieve my free web-based e-mails no problem, but I should be able to retrieve my regular paid for ISP.

Try this,

Disable Pocket PC 2003 Inbox Check for SSL
-----------------
1. For registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox,
create new DWORD
ForceOffSSL = 1
2. Soft-reset device (or stop Inbox and restart Inbox)

See if that works for you.

I appreciate this and will try, but forgive my ignorance. I actually am not sure where to locate this. I'm still in the process of learning all of this. How do I get to this section? Thanks!!!!

So sorry, this is a registry change. You will need a registry editor to get to this location and make the change. I use PHM Registry Editor to make registry changes. Once installed, then open PHM Registry Editor and follow the instructions provided and see if that works for you.

I would recommend doing a backup of your PDA first before making any changes to your registry.

Oh, okay, I see a little bit more. Well, don't want to chance messing with the registry, as I fear I'll royally make things a disaster! It's just a nice bonus, but I can live without my 4155 being able to collect my comcast mail. I can always check my Yahoo mail by signing in surfing the net on the 4155, so I'll survive. . Still it's odd how my Axim can retrieve my Comcast mail directly (it's running PPC2002), so obviously 2003 must have some conflict, or is it the 4155 specifically?
Anyway, I can live without being able to check my Comcast e-mail on my 4155. Can always use the Axim-it's not like I don't have both available to me!! Thanks for your input!
If there was a way to forward my comcast mail to my yahoo, that would work, at least I could sign into Yahoo on my PDA (just wouldn't be the instant retrieval, but such would be life!!), but somehow I venture to guess that would involve extra costs which no way would I need to bother to go that far!!!

This is no longer a problem. I found that the 4155 does in fact retrieve my e-mail: I just wasn't giving it enough time. It takes about 35-40 seconds before it sends/receives. (at least that is the case with my particular device) I'm used to the Axim, which does it in a split second. Not sure why there is a delay in how long my 4155 takes, and the Axim (which runs PPC2002) but oh well, I can live with it-it does work after all, and it's not like the wait is a few minutes, so all said, it's fine.
I can't believe all this time that's all that the issue was-it worked all along. Oh well, live and learn.

I had a similar lag problem with my 2215. Ted (whitelyt) posted the following in response. It worked like a charm.

Give this a try, you will need to update your registry.

1. For registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox, create new DWORD ForceOffSSL and give it a value of 1.
2. Soft-reset device (or stop (kill) Inbox and restart Inbox)

I sometimes also find this with RegEdit.

To get it working do a search on your desktop for *.cab and locate the regedit one.

Then copy this onto your PDA an run from there.

If it is saying that the .cab file is not a valid pocket pc program then it does sound as though you may have a corrupted download.
