Problem sending email via WiFi
I am trying to send email through my H4150 connected to my Home WiFi. I keep getting a message that reads:

'The message(s) could not be sent. Check that you have network coverage and that your account information is correct'

I assume I have network coverage because I can surf the web, and I also assume I have my account info correct since I can receive emails.

Please help!

I had the exact same problem, I deleted the info I had under the domain name and I checked the box that says my out going server needs authentication. No it works no problem. The only thing that I have not figured out is how to delete the messages off the server from my IPAQ, If you figure that one out let me know.

The outgoing mail uses a different server than incoming. Usually it's smtp.MyISP.com where MyISP is the actual name of your email provider. This is set on 4th page of the E-mail setup. Incoming mail is typically mail.MyISP.com or pop3.MyISP.com (which must be correct if you are receiving email) and usually the Domain field should be empty on that same page. Some people find it necessary to use the actual IP number for the mail server(s) which you can discover by pinging the domain name (in a DOS window on your PC, type ping smtp.MyISP.com (once again, the MyISP is the actual name) and some people find it necessary to check the "Outgoing e-mail requires authentication" on the 2nd page of the options menu (reached from the 4th page of the email settings).

I set up my email account using IMAP4 rather than POP3. When I've deleted a message from the PPC if I click send & recieve it will then delete it off the server too.

IMAP4 also supports directories which is very useful.

The golden rule is click send & recieve after deleting or moving any message. This will update the server.

Also in the options somewhere you need to select "delete messages immediatly" from the drop down menu.

Hope this is useful.

Shameless plug: If your email account doesn't support IMAP4 we can rent you one that does for £12/year + vat

First time poster, long time lurker. I am having this problem as mentioned in this thread. I can download email but not send. I've tried checking the authentication box. I've tried smtp.insightbb.com for outgoing, I've used mail.insightbb.com, just "mail", I don't know what else to try. On my home computer my outlook outgoing is just "mail", but like I said I tried that and it still won't send email. Anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks,

Chuck

Checking Authentication Worked
Checking "Outgoing e-mail requires authentication" solved the problem on my h2210. Thanks for the help. BTW, I learned of this forum by googling the error message. Great site. I joined up and hope to contribute and steer others here.

cgrigsby, have you tried using the IP address of the outgoing mail server?
