You need to do a hard reset.

HOLD power and PRESS reset (on the side).

The reset button on the 4150 is actually quite small and blends into the unit so that it is hard to spot unless you look for it. The reset button is on the right side of the unit, so just follow Howard2k's instructions and all should be well.

you mean the reset button on the left that you have to press with the stylus? So i just press that and the power button together and that restores it to factory default with nothing installed? Don't I have to reinstall the OS or anything?

Nope, all in ROM. Just the reset on the left and the power.

BTW, anything in IPAQ File Store will still be there. Just manually delete that.

The OS is stored on ROM with your internal backup. That way, it doesn't get wiped out when you wipe the RAM. ROM is read-only memory meaning you can't change it without authorized changes (from HP / Windows Mobile) or delete it.

When you wipe out RAM, it will delete any programs, contacts, files, drivers, etc. and it will be restored to as if you just pulled it out of the box.

I don't have a 4150, but I believe that you should press and hold the power button then insert the stylus into the rest button and hold it until the screen goes off. Then click the power button and you should have the opening screen again. Could be the other way around (reset then power button), I'm not sure on that.

Good luck!

clearing a 2210
How is it done on the 2210?
I have had one as a demo for a gps package I sell, now I have sold it, and want to wipe all the data (back to factory defaults) before it goes to it's new owner.

It requires some dexterity. You press the two outside function buttons and the reset button at the same time for a couple of seconds. Alternatively, removing the battery for some period of time until the backup drains will do a hard reset. You should remove the battery for shipment anyway. Just make sure you manually remove anything in the IPAQ File Store since this survives a hard reset.
