Is my 4150 kaput?
Ive just been trying to help someone get some pics off their SD card with my 4150 because it wasn't being read in any of our readers so I figured I could email them to him.

Anyway the card read and I could view pics, I then hooked it up to active sync by usb cable, not cradle and the thing just froze and didn't recover. I hit the reset button on the side (i never know if thats hard or soft reset) and it stopped on the loading bar about 3mm's in and just stayed there. I took the battery out and now it does nothing, doesn't switch on or anything. I haven't put it in it's cradle yet but what do you think? What are HP like at replacing things? I never filled any info in when I bought it. Will they give me a new one, what do I have to do? Thanks

The button is the soft reset

Seems a little odd..

Sounds like something got corrupted in RAM which caused it to hang and not recover when doing a soft reset. Performing a hard reset removes everything in RAM only leaving what is in ROM which normally fixes things.

Not good. How long have you had it? How many hard resets? I Normally do three to four per year max and have never been 'forced' to do one. Could be a hardware issue or serious software problem....

I've only done it once, just happened to be yesterday. I think it must've been something to do with this guys SD card because it wouldnt work properly on any of our pc's, kept messing them up too, guess I shouldn't thought about it then but it read so wasnt too worried. Haven't had any other major probs so ill not worry for now, if it happens again i'll speak to HP.

Sounds like it is the SD card. I suggest wiping the SD card somehow so that whatever damaged your iPAQ doesn;tdamage something else again.

I would tend to agree, it does sound like your SD card is at fault, I also have a Ipaq H4150, and have hard reset it about three times, without any problems, I am not sure if this is going to help you, but the way I copy pictures from the SD card to my computer, is to hot sync the Ipaq, wait for the active sync to complete, click onto Active sync explorer, then Pocket PC, and finally the Storage Card folder, from here I can right click copy and paste to my computer, or backup the whole card.
Good Luck.
Trev.

I don't suppose this was a Sandisk SD card?

Hmmm...sound like it probably was a SanDisk considering that is the problem with most PDAs these days. Tsk Tsk to ScamDisk.
