Extreme Cold & my ipaq
I was wondering since i've started using my 4150 as an mp3 player what it's reaction to cold is. I live in Whistler, a ski resort, and ski most days, when I take up my cell phone the screen is always very slow to react to the buttons im pushing, is the cold likely to do any damage to my ipaq? Is it worth the risk? Thanks

Just my own opinion, but I wouldn't subject my ipaq to the cold like that. If I'm not mistaken (and I could well be), the screens are LIQUID crystal, and liquid tends to freeze and expand when it gets real cold. I've seen a few laptop screens that didn't react very well to the salesforce leaving them in their car overnight in a New Enland winter. Just MHO, FWIW.

sKiBa - if you are keeping your iPaq in your jacket (particularly in the inside breast pocket) it will be plenty warm enough. Where are you planning on carrying it and what type of case are you using?

it will be on an inside breast pocket, my phone always stays on an outisde pocket so might explain it. Case is an innopocket aluminium case, I ride alot of park though so I guess just more incentive to not bail on any rails. I might try it for one day and see how it goes, spring is nearly here anyway so it should start warming up.

I agree with Shrink, your device will be OK as long as you keep it from direct cold climates. Just knowing that you will be skiing you will be dressed warm. If the device is inside of your pocket it should be safe. Keeping it close to your body is better.

If it's in your inside breast pocket it will be just fine. Besides - it doesn't get terribly cold at Whistler anyways - you BC'ers just can't handle the cold like we Albertans!! :-)

Have fun!
