Question regarding backup
I backup my contacts using the default program and after restoring the backup, i realised that it overides all my contacts which I did not backup. Is there any way to prevent this from happening?

No,

All of the contacts are not separate files; it is contained in a database. When you have new contacts in that database and then restore an older version, you're overwriting the new database with an older one. That is why it is good to do incremental backups or have a backup regimen where you are capturing your changes on a consistent basis.

If you are syncing with Outlook on your PC, you can avoid the problem that you mentioned (somewhat). When you re-connect your device right after a full restore, AS should ask you whether you want to combine your data with your pc or replace data either from the PPC or the PC. If you choose "use data from PC" then your contacts from your PC will be x-ferred to your PPC.

Speaking of backups, I created one on my PPC awhile ago but since then Ive done a hard reset. I'm assuming that the backup is still there after the hard reset, otherwise it wouldn't be a backup. In any case, how do I get rid of it ?

Where did you save your backup on your PPC?

On a 3835 there is a place for it under settings, system, backup utility and mine looks like this, I'd like to get rid of it but don't see where to do it.

Nevermind, I think I got rid of it. I moved the file from "none" (see above picture) to Ipaq file store, then deleted it. When I use Activesync, the Ipaq file store is empty when I look on my PC except for the "ignore my docs" thing and it doesn't show in the Ipaq file folder on the PPC either.
Odd part is my available memory didn't change even though I got rid of 6mg. Could that mean I didn't get rid of it or is there some "other" memory just for backups on these older models ?
