Buying one today!
Just wanted to introduce myself here, I'm picking up my new 4155 today during my lunch break. It's been a crazy week for me without a PDA. Firstly, I've been a palm user for years, since the original palmpilot days. This is my first ppc.

I had put in a order to Dell for the new Axim, but they never received it! That was a sign that I should have stuck with the HP4155, even if it cost more. I went back to the local store twice to play with it and then I found this site this morning and I have a new home!

Will fill you guys in later tonight after work when I bring it home. Shipping my Tungsten|E to the lucky ebay buyer this morning too! That's another story for another day... darn unreliable palm!

Welcome along!

I've had numerous PDAs and the 4150 is an incredible machine... You sound like you've been around PDAs for a while so I maybe be preaching to the converted, but have a think about screen protectors and a case. I use an aluminium case and it's saved my PDA twice now..

Welcome aboard. I just got my 4155 yesterday and I love it so far. I had an Axim X3i that I returned because it locked up all of the time. I then placed an order for a X30 but started hearing awful things about it so I cancelled it. The reviews were great, but the actual day to day users had entirely too many problems for me to take the chance. As I sat on the couch last night posting wirelessly without a single lock up, I knew I made the right choice.

Thanks guys for the replies, I just got home and opened the box. Wow, what a device! You guys weren't kidding. Katrina011: I just read your post this morning and you helped make my decision. I was going to get the Dell X30 624 but it was a sign having the order lost with them. Last night again I almost tried it, but got to the credit card info screen and stopped. This morning Dell still confirmed my order even though I never finished entering my info! So I emailed them back to cancel and got a response!

I got the iPaq charging right now, 4 hours. I read the Dell manual (downloadable) and it states not to use it before 8 hours! And it has a smaller battery! I can't believe that HP included an extra stylus too in the package. The slip case was included and even an adapter for the charger to use as a travel unit without the cradle. Very smart and clever. Now I can charge at work if need be.

Thanks guys and I hope to read & learn as much as I can.

I totally forgot to buy screen protectors, I was too excited! What could I use around the house until I pick some up tomorrow? Saran Wrap?!

Saran Wrap??? LOL

There are some good screen protectors that are out. Boxwave have some good ones. There are others. Try using the search function on this site for "protector" and it should give you a few threads that you can look into.

Welcome. I bought the 4155 last week when holidaying in Hawaii. Haven't really a chance to play around with it though. Also ordered a G2 screen protector, not sure what it'll be like.

On a side not, came back to Australia to realise that they are virtually the same price and you also get a nice bonus: http://hp.com.au/ipaq/executivepack/

I need to pick something up tomorrow, but tonight I'll try and use something around the house that could do the 'static cling' trick!

I'm having issues syncing now with Outlook 2003. I already had it installed and downloaded the latest Activesync 3.7.1 to use. It synced my Inbox but not the Calendar, Notes, Tasks or Contacts.

I can't find any info on Microsoft's website except that it supports up to Outlook 2002. But this could be old info since Outlook 2003 has been out for awhile and I'm not the first to try this.

Any suggestions?

I installed Outlook 2003 over again my current install and it did the trick. Whew... I can sync now. Now to figure this wireless thing. I use an Airport base station, but it is a closed network and with a static IP, no DHCP. It's connected to a wired router and so the router has DHCP running.

I believe I'll try and enter the IP addresses in the iPaq manually and see what happens. The next thing would be to go through the Admin utility for the Airport base station. Does anyone have a similar setup?

Take a look at this document by ikehiker who is our resident wifi guru. You will learn tons of wifi stuff in his document.
