In previous correspondence, whitelyte referred to a Kia patch, available from Handango, to enable a bluetooth mobile phone headset to receive audio from IPaq handhelds. Will the patch work with a Plantronics M3000 headset, please?
HP has disabled the headset profile in the h2215 registry but a simple registry tweak enables it. From what I hear this registry tweak does not work for the h4150. It is almost as if HP did not include the headset profile at all on the h4100 model. I have not personally confirmed this as of yet.

I believe that I read somewhere online that a headset can be used with the 4150, but only the audio works, not the microphone. Also, the quality of the BT audio was poor (or maybe it was the headset that caused it to sound bad).

I read about that Registry-Twek somewhere, sorry can't remember where. Then I tried it and was able to connect to my S/O/N/Y HBH-35. But the connections was somehow crapped, and i couldn't really use it. So i can't have Pocket Skype with my BT Headset...
OK... Here is the hack. It works for the h2215 but I have seen reports that it doesn't work for the h4155.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Widcomm\BtConfig\Servi ces\0005\Enabled
Change value to 1.
It can paired but no sound.
To get the sound comes through, remember to change these also:
1) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\WaveDev\Dll
Change value from wavedev.dll to BtCeIf.dll

HP should be SUED for selling expensive things ( I paid when it came out ) over 600 US for my iPAQ 3970 with 1GB expansion pack. I bought it SEPCIFICALLY for the bluetooth use and was advised to to buy the BEST
(JABRA) for near 100 US to enjoy it . Naturally one cannot install it all in the shop and discover the shortcomings only afterwards and ends up with something that DOES NOT WANT TO CONNECT for reason only HP knows.
Why won' they let us have a solution.
SO FRUSTRATING especially when you live in South Africa and you can't go back and exchange it in USA.
There isn't a smily to tell HOW I FEEL short changed and I have HP scanner/ portable/ printer etc. I wish I never spend one cent on them!
Guys, I manage to get my Ipaq 4150 to connect to another bluetooth audio device (Parrot CK3300), it shows it connected, but no sounds comes out. Is this as far as I can get, or is this further than some...

hey guys
i searched a long time for finding a solution, installich a bt-headset on my 4150!
does anyone know how it works???
or is ther no way? mhhh
I gather the hack does not work with the h4150. I don't own one so I cannot test it. I would say that it does not work. HP has made it difficult to use a BT headset on the iPAQs except for a couple.
Since HP and Logitech is releasing a BT Stereo Headset I would imagine that HP will be releasing a ROM update for some iPAQs to enable the headset profile. It would be in their best interests in doing so. However I don't hold out hope that they will provide an update for the h2200 and the h4100.

There are two BT profiles needed to make the headset completely work. You need to enable the Headset BT profile to be able to detect the headset and bind to it. Then the audio BT profile is needed to redirect sound from the speaker to the headset. It appears that the headset profile works find to detect the headset. However it is the audio profile that I fear may not work properly to hear the sound.
Open up File Explorer and navigate to \Windows. See if there is a BtCeIf.dll file in that folder. If that is missing then the sound from the headset won't work. I can't say for sure if putting a file there will make things work. I don't have a h4100 to test.
